is it just me or has this quest not completed for anyone else? I'm in the vale and have been for a while but after the first time doing this quest it never fully completed and no matter how many times i abandon and retry it never seems to finish.

I managed to talk to Anduin right after joining a guild raid on the world bosses. This meant I did not get quest credit, while the cinematic DID start. I didn't think it was a big deal until I got around to Golden Lotus and could not start their chain. I ended up abandoning the quest, heading back to Temple of the White Tiger to pick it back up, and it was all good. I was able to take the quest and talk to Anduin at the gates no problem.

Someone on the Horde page does mention that once you abandon the quest the gates seal closed again which was true, so if you do not have a flying mount, it is a good idea to wait until you're back out side in Kun-Lai Summit.

At the completion of this quest the gates to Vale of Eternal Blossoms will be opened which will gain you access to Shrine of Seven Stars which is the Alliance city hub in Pandaria.
(Or if you are Horde to Shrine of Two Moons.)

It has portals to Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, Exodar, Shattrath and Dalaran.

It has bankers and auctioneer (for engineers only) and access to void storage, reforging and transmogrification.

And it has a flight trainer which on level 90 will teach you to fly in Pandaria.

You must complete this quest if you wish to do the Golden Lotus dailys at level 90.

Completing this quest will also allow you to travel to the city Shrine of Seven Stars. If you're under level 90, this is the only way to get there without mage ports, lock summons or having a friend fly you.

You need to be at least level 87 to obtain this quest, as it is in Kun-Lai Summit (level 87 zone).

After you start the cutscene, the Celestials gather, Yu'lon speaks to the people.

Yu'lon says: Children of Pandaria. The mists have fallen. A new era dawns for us all. Accept the healing powers of this Vale... but use these gifts wisely.

After the cutscene, if you are not leaving in a hurry, you can hear Celestials talking.

Yu'lon says: We risk everything, allowing so many into the Vale.

Chi-Ji says: I have faith in our friends from beyond the mists.

Xuen says: Their strength is an inspiration... and sorely needed. We must trust that their hearts are pure.

So, the gates to the Vale are opened for the first time in thousands of years, and yet, while riding past the Golden Pagoda, the Horde has already started their digging. Bad phasing is bad :)

What the Celestials say now differs from what Everdreamer has posted. It now goes as follows:

Yu'lon says: Children of Pandaria. The mists have fallen. For good or for ill, our land is open to all.

Yu'lon says: Let us draw ourselves together to rebuild this sacred place, the first step toward healing a war-torn world.

Niuzao says: These outsiders have brought chaos to this land. Can we trust them to set it right?

Chi-Ji says: I have faith in our friends from beyond the mists.

Xuen says: Their strength is an inspiration... and sorely needed. We must trust that their hearts are pure.

Now that the Vale is corrupt, you turn this quest into the Matron Matron Vi Vinh at the Golden Lantern Inn at the Shrine of the Seven Stars (Alliance). I'm guessing something similar for Horde side, as well. Be careful as you enter the Vale and try to stay on the path, otherwise you end up getting tagged by the sha remnants.

Despite being corrupted by Garrosh's attack on the Vale and later killed by players in the Siege of Orgrimmar, Rook Stonetoe, He Softfoot, and Sun Tenderheart can be found alive and well waiting outside for the gate to be opened.

Funny or helpful or neither, but I am a returning player, late to the expansion. My first toon to enter the vale with this chain was horde, and walked to the 2 Moons from the gate. My second toon was alliance, who dinged 90 before he came, and just flew to the mark on the map to turn in the quest. My third toon was alliance 89. And I seriously HAD NOT NOTICED that 2 Moons and 7 Stars are not the same town. So my poor little mage walked up to 2 Moons and could NOT figure out why she kept getting ganked!

I am actually surprised the city is not neutral - every expansion since vanilla has had a neutral city (if you count Deepholm's temple as a city).

For the people who are trying to finish Loremaster and cannot find Anduin at 120lvl, finish Mogu at the Gates quest first.

Since the Vale was corrupted, this quest chain ends here but the next step to gain Golden Lotus reputation is to talk to Xari the Kind and accept The Golden Lotus.
