For this quest, you will head to south-central Vale to Mistfall Village. On the cliffs to the east of the village is the entrance. Once you get close to the axe, you will become cage in, and start a mini 'event' which has you killing approx 20 Jade Construct.
You are assisted by 2x healing runes and 1x DPS rune (grants the buff Gift of Power). Simply kill the mobs that spawn over the course of about 5 minutes, then loot the axe.

Make sure you don't leave the room when done, because you will be turning the quest in to the NPC in the same room!

Very easy quest. Kill the mobs, no need to use runes. Green heals you, blue gives a damage buff.

this quest was bugged for me - some sort of phasing issue. I couldn't get past the fence in the Silent Sanctuary.

However, i was able to fly over the fence with mount. It's impossible to mount inside the Silent Sanctuary, you have to take advantage of late dismounting after you enter the room.
EDIT: there's invisible wall at entrance - fly very low to avoid it, and then immediately up over the fence

after that i was able to loot the axe, and trial started when i got close to the fence.

Quest giver spawns inside the Silent Sanctuary after you pass this trial, so don't leave the room!

I too am having problems with this quest. When I enter there are bars blocking the way to the main area. I have tried the previous suggestions of logging out and back in and run before it all phases, and that didnt' work for me.
Neither did attempting to fly in and over the bars.

I have abandoned the quest, logged out and retaken the quest and the same thing occurs.
Guess we just have to be patient.

Here's a solution for those who get dismounted right after flying in: Mount up outside, unplug your ethernet cable, fly in under the invisible wall and over the gate, then plug your ethernet cable back in. This should give you enough time to get over without dismounting. From there, you should be able to loot the axe.

After waiting around for awhile with nothing else happening, the event began and I was able to turn in the quest after all the statues were dead. There was another player standing outside the gate, and when he left, the event started. I'm not sure if this was coincidence or if you need to be alone for this quest to work properly.

Yet another bug from Blizz, but gladly I could finish it.

a) Went there, killed dogs outside, spired gate was up, nothing happened.
b) Went out, dropped quest, got it back went back there and again, dogs and gate were back up.

Gladly a mage was in there already, asked him how did he manage to get in, he said he just went out and came back in and the gate was down.

He got killed by the first phase of the quest (trial), as soon as that happened gate opened, and I was able to pass through. The trial bit started for me.

So bug or not, I do think spiritwalking could be a good way to bypass the gate.
Wouldn't be cheating since its to get rid of a bug.

So drop quest, get it back, go to the place, aggro the entrance lions, run to the gate and get yourself killed. Rez on the other side of the gate, and heal yourself, you'll be able to do so with the green healing circles on the ground.

After killing the adds, you'll be able to click the helmet and as commented before, wait there til the NPC arrives to turn in quest.

This is a frustrating bug, I've tried all of the below suggestions and nothing. There's not even any dogs or mobs outside to kill or anything - just run in and the gate is up. The only things outside are the sprites, too. I've tried abandoning, logging, reloading, and the flying trick, and still not getting anywhere.

I found a Work-around that doesn't involve disconnecting or using lag.

Find another person on the same quest and group with them.

stand in front of the gate, 1 person abandons the quest, walks past the now phased out gate, and the other shares the quest. repeat for the other person.

Go collect the axe, then move back towards the bars to activate the event.

Warlocks, we get it easy to bypass this bug: Eye of Kilrogg can enter the room without triggering the phasing shift. So no gate in the way, place your portal and walk in to get through.

Can also just drag a mob from outside to the gate and let it kill you so you can ghost run through the gate. Easier than most of these suggestions involving forced lag.

All the bugs for this quest were 'supposedly' fixed in the October 16th hotfix.

Fixed an issue that would prevent the object of the quest "Battle Helm of the Thunder King" from being looted.

I don't know if this quest used to be bugged before, but it worked fine for me today. Yes, the gate went up after I got into the first area, but that was because there was someone in there already starting the quest. Once he was done, the gates went down and I was able to go in there and start the encounter myself.

So if the gates are up and you don't know what to do, make sure that there's not someone already in there before trying some of these other suggestions.

Remember that if someone else is inside doing the event, you have to wait for them to get out before you can walk past the bars yourself. It won't let you in if you're in a party with someone that doesn't have the quest.

It seems the event is disabled on some realms. Nobody is doing the event, the gate is up, not a single mob in sight. I was able to fly in and take the axe as described above, but I can't do the event.

leave your router/modem cable alone and don't let you get killed by the lions :)
Just fly in as described by Ellgar3: first very close to the ground to not hit the invisible wall, then when you're in the room where the lions are, pull up and fly over the poles.
Loot the axe - fight the event-mobs (or vice versa) - done.

lol just did it today got the ax the flying trick works but fly low then as soon as you are in the room then fly up as high as the gate is then loot axe thanks for the tip :) but remember you still have to do the trial for me it trigger when i stood next to the gate good luck

This is still borked. I wrote a ticket expressing my frustration. The GM sent the quest item in the mail. This kicked the phasing so i could access the room. I destroyed the axe that was sent to me and picked it up again. Nothing happened. I left the room and the gate went up behind me, but the NPCs squeezed through the bars and busted out a can of whupass. The lion things were in the lobby on the same side.

I'm not a great player, but survived, so this should not be too hard for a competent and/or well geared player.

I had the same problem multiple posters had with this quest. You will all be glad to know it is NOT bugged at all go turn in the quest "A Celestial Task" and phased out door goes away and you can complete it as it was intended. I hope this helps with everyones frustration and would like to appologize for opening an in game bug report ticket after I read of the other players difficulties like mine in these threads.

Unfortunately, I didn't have this quest in my quest log, and now cannot seem to acquire it since I am already revered, which brings about a whole new set of issues. This quest is the gateway for gaining rep with the August Celestials.

Dumb question to ask but why list how much experience you get from this quest line when in order to even do rep grind for this faction your already 90....This isn't like CoC were you could do it before max level.

Just did this quest on my warlock, but the gate was phased like others have noted - tried a few flying attempts, then went for Eye of Kilrogg, which worked like a charm :)

Make sure you have Glyph of Eye of Kilrogg fitted. Use Eye of Kilrogg outside the mini dungeon and fly back underground with the eye, past gates, and drop a Demonic Circle then dismiss the Eye. Then just walk down to the gates and port to your Demonic Circle.

I had this same phasing on the gate issue. It would just sit there and not let me in. I couldn't get the Celestials quest as it disappeared after I got revered with Lotus.

In the end I just went outside, mounted, flew away a little, then flew back in and while the gate was still phased out I just kept right on flying through. Picked up the battle axe but the fight didn't trigger when I got back to the gate so had to destroy it and pick it up again, then walk backwards very slowly to the gate, at which point the event triggered. It was a very easy fight to complete, you just fight each of the statues around the edge until they are all gone. There are 3 coloured circles on the floor that will give you a short buff when you walk through them. And watch out for the green goo that the statues drop on the floor when they die.

It was pretty buggy for me as well. First time I entered there were four lions, and no gate immediately behind them. Only one further back in front of the axe. Killed the lions, and continued in past them, where i encountered the Jade Constructs. I must have killed 50 ofthem and still the back gate didnt open. Also the floating balls did nothing for me as could not click on them. Eventually I was pwn'ed by them - they just kept spawning and i couldnt keep my health up.

Try #2 - came in to find 8 lions. This time there was a second gate immediately behind the lions. Killed most of them and got a message saying I had passed part 1. Both gates now rose. This time there were no jade constructs at all! lol...However the quest giver was there..I marched up grabbed that axe, and said yippee!

And got the hell out before those Jade Constructs showed up...

For those who can't get any of these other workarounds to work, here's what worked for me today. I was on horde and there was an alliance person there too. We couldn't find any way in, then the alliance guy attacked me and let me kill him. As a ghost you can pass through the bars and resurrect on the other side. Just make sure you die close enough that your rez zone extends to the other side.

I had the same problem, even after I had turned in the "A Celestial Task" quest. The barrier remained up.

Then it occurred to me that there is one more quest that triggers at Revered with the Golden Lotus faction -- "Understanding the Shado-Pan", which is turned in at the Shado-Pan garrison in Townlong Steppes. So I flew off to hand that in, and went back to this quest's location -- and the barrier was gone.

I could be wrong, but perhaps that might help.

If you're a mana class, you need to conserve your mana. That is your chief concern. The jade constructs come alive one at a time and attack you. As time goes on, they spawn faster and faster so that you have a whole crowd of them on you seemingly at once. There are three orbs that spawn, two healing orbs on either side of the center one which increases your damage. When you really need healing, walk through a healing orb. When you need a lot of damage output, walk through the damage orb. The orbs respawn after something like 20 or 30 seconds so use them judiciously. My main is a holy priest, I use shadow for questing, and I had very little trouble doing this quest. The only real issue I had was keeping my mana up.

This quest really works against people with little patience. Don't start out popping all your cooldowns or with all guns blazing. It starts slowly and takes time to complete so if you lack patience, your frustration will be the thing that kills you.

Heres a trick that definitely works if you have the phasing issue with the gates up. Just let the mobs kill you close to the gate, then in ghost form run behind the gate and rez, Viola!

Might have to do it a second time if the gate is up on the weapon too.

I tried with all the supposedly working tricks above, and none of them worked: Flying over the fence, I got dismount every time by the foot of the stairs. Using rocket boots or nitro, I would just run right into the fence.

After several attempt I just simply left and did other things. Logged out, and then later that day tried again. Puff! No fence, I walked right in, no problem.

So I just spent the last hour fiddling and I figured out as much as I can about this bug.

How this Bug happens someone attempts it and dies, and you have to wait for it to reset.

Sure you can try all the bug fixes that people try (like turning in quests, restarting, dropping quest and pick up new one, try and fly over it) but i found them all not to work.

What I did find to work was having a friend on another server invite me, (which transfer you to his server) and hope that it is not bugged there. In my case it wasn't. The gate was gone and i was able to start fighting those mobs to get to the Axe.

i could choose between both leather options as a druid, although i only had guardian and feral specs.

i assume for all classes that may take more than 1 role you will be able to choose between all possibilites for your armor type that your class might want.

when the gauntlet starts & the gate goes up behind you, stand
with your back to it on the stairs, (if you don't need the runes).

the mobs will stand at the bottom of the stairs & their acid pools will stack
in one spot under the stairs; you won't take any damage from them.

When I arrived someone else was killing the mobs so I waited outside. When I got back in, the bars were gone and I could loot the quest item, yet I had not passed the trial. Damn! So I just waited.... Then the event started and I had to kill the mobs anyway. Remember to use the orbs, just stand on them.

Dont try this quest right after somebody else does it. I went in, took the axe, waited around for something to happen, nothing happened so I ran out. As soon as I crossed where the gate should be it spawned with me on the opposite side of the gate from the runes. The mobs could still get me though so I just had to run away and abandon.

I don't recall having any problem with this using my ret paladin, but with my arcane mage, at the end of the construct battle there are eleven constructs hitting me at once. I have died 7 times in a row, but can't seem to turn the corner.

Be aware that there are more than 'several', as mentioned in other posts. I'm not sure that there have not been more than 11 at once, but I have counted that many at least.

I just did this and had the gates spawn as I left the gated area. Fortunately I was on my tank monk so it wasn't an issue on not being able to get the orbs but I did use roll to get across the gate threshold so not sure if that bugged it or not. Just thought i would share that since i'm seeing all kinds of issues with this quest and the gate bugging

Worked like a charm. Killed some stone lions and got into the next area. Moved right close to where the bars for the axe area were. Horde guy killed me. I rezzed inside where the axe was, looted it and hearthed out. The NPCs could also kill you. Same thing.

The green puddles do significant damage, its best to be ready to move just before you kill one.

I found that kiting the group between the healing orbs hitting the power orb mid way works best when there are a lot of them attacking.

The orbs seem to re spawn faster when the number of mobs attacking increases at the end. So, you have to keep moving, no standing around. Especially, in green puddles as they die.

Since this quest requires you to complete the Trial of Contstructs, ignore the comments on how to get the axe without completing the fight. Ohterwise, you will just wonder around with an axe taking up a bag slot.

Go in with a flask, food buff, and healing pots. Use any healing you might have, i.e. Recuperate (if you're a rogue).

not sure how this happened but I got in before the gate closed not knowing there was someone else already there. I'm a hunter and my pet got caught up with the quillen and was shut out when the gate closed but that still left 2 players inside. After dying 3 times trying to complete this I was grateful it let us both do the quest at the same time. Both got axe and credit for the construct kills even though we worked together. Thank you to Balizor wherever you are! I owe you one!

Ok, this quest is in stages

Stage 1 - Battle spear of the thundre king

go to the lake above ruins of gunlai, click on the battlespear, boss is 1 quillen garsan (does not count for 1 man army achievement unfortunately)

stage 2 - Battle helm of the thunder king
inside gunlai, a new room has opened visible immediately upon entering the ruins. Keep going straight following the quest marker. you will meet up with Ren Firetounge. Speak to him to proceed (the exit is sealed off with fire) you now enter a room completely filled with traps. Try not to die. Seeing as you probably will, you will be pleasantly pleased that the death bird is back finally and you no longer have to walk to your corpse anymore in pandaria (pre 5.3 this was not the case) fly back to your corpse and try again :P
the room you are in is cleverly called the hall of tiles, and you must navigate it to get the helm.
the second attempt at doing so should reveal that it is actually very easy and all you have to do is run straight forward and open the door. Sooo, you may actually not have died if you read this :P

open the door (which you have probably done by now)

go straight
, blah blah survive more traps and gadgets gone haywire, get the helm fight a boss. Zhua - jin , who you don't actually get to kill. Instead you end up fight jade guardians

"mighty fine hat" says Firetounge.. indeed it looks cool.

stage 3

if you have set your hearth to the shrine of seven stars or two moons, hearth out of gun lai and fly back to the quest giver to turn in the quest and proceed to the final stage.

the battle axe

find the silent sanctuary and defeat the challenge therein. you will defeat waves of jade mogu constructs. Each new wave is activated by stepping into the blue orb. DO this until the gate opens and you collect the axe. when the constructs die, they leave behind poison pools, you may decide not to stand there.

pick up the axe, the quest giver spawns right in front of you (which he could have done before but apparently not) turn in the quest.

Thought my Ret Pally was doing ok until coming across this.
Maybe I hit lvl 90 too soon (seems unlikely) but this seems another example of a quest designed for those who have Health over 400k. Orbs don't protect me enough from mobs, so this will have to be consigned to the bin marked 'Wait till I have more Stamina/better gear'.

Does WoW work better if you use a games consol? I find movement with keyboard arrows a real pain in combat situations.

Description

The final artifact is the Thunder King's axe.

Lei Shen charged into battle with his spear in one hand, and his axe in the other.

It is said that he could throw his axe with brutal accuracy, and when it hit its target, it made a sound like crashing thunder.

After his death, the axe was placed in a ceremonial chamber to the southwest.

Needless to say, we must not let it fall into the mogu's hands.
