Seems to be broken, can't open the door after killing the first mob.

It seems that this quest is bugged as of 7-17-12, after you kill the first mob, the room is sealed off and can not continue with the story.

Quest bugged out on me the first attempt. I left vehicle (not abandoned quest) and spoke to chen again. After I defeated the beer elemental I ran to the next platform but I did not run past the uncle. The encounter worked properly once I stood there and let the dialogue play out and did not try to run by.

Chen doesn't appear to be near Mudmug's hut like he should be. Is it possible that I didn't complete a quest in the quest line that would prevent him from showing up? Is there a way to tell what the last quest I completed in this quest line was?

Listen to story, kill 2 things, drink, go outside, up ladders, and it will continue the talk to family member. At end, will phase out and quest completes.

as of 10/8/12 it seems to be bugged if you are in a group.. it ported me into the instance area with out turning into the person and I had nothing I could do.. I dropped the quest and was stuck inside. I ended up hearthing and flying back.

after going back and accepting the quest again I was able to do it with out a problem.

Chen says: "Bah, I do not want to talk about it."

Isn't it a little odd that Chen then gives you a quest to tell you what happened?

Chen Stormstout may only have two moves: Stormstout Fu and Drink, but that's pretty much all he needs to defeat the two mobs (Unruly Alemental and Wuk-Wuk).

Drink is pretty much self explanatory, Chen will sit down and drink to restore his health. I believe it restores all of his health if you sit and drink the entire 9-10 seconds, but even then it should only take a couple since Chen doesn't take much damage, providing you spam Stormstout Fu.

Stormstout Fu is quite a fun move as it actually picks out from a random pool of Monk-esque moves. The moves are as followings:
- Tiger Palm. This actually does not trigger the Tiger Strikes buff, however.
- Blackout Kick. Instead of restoring your health, you will kick back the enemy a short distance.
- Expel Harm. You restore about 10k health while inflicting the same amount on the enemy.
- Fists of Fury. The "buff" while channeling Fists of Fury is called Hundred Paw-Strikes, and it has an additional benefit of allowing you to use Stormstout Fu while it is being channeled. (Thanks Reignac!)

Against the Unruly Alemental and Wuk-Wuk, just spam Stormstout Fu. After the fight, Drink if needed, although even after defeating both of them Chen had about 85% health left. I guess it's there just in case.

EDIT: The "Beer Elemental" I had written down is actually "Unruly Alemental". Sorry for the mistake.

Still bugged as of 11/25/2012; quest would not complete while in a group, although it progressed as it should. Once exited, however, the quest could not be turned in. Retrying after leaving the group led the quest to complete normally.

(Spoiler alert!)

Chen narrates his experience at the Stormstout Brewery through what I'll call an "interactive cutscene".

<Chen acknowledges you with a nod but looks uncharacteristically sullen.>

What happened, Chen?

You are then transported to the Stormstout Brewery, where you control Chen Stormstout. As you explore the brewery, Chen explains what happened.

I found the brewery and made my way inside.

I decided to look around for someone else from the Stormstout family.

Chen encounters Uncle Gao in the main floor of the brewery.

Uncle Gao says: Sorry, we aren't accepting visitors right now.

Chen Stormstout says: I am no visitor, I am Chen Storm-

Uncle Gao says: You should leave.

Chen Stormstout says: But we are family. I am a Stormstout! From the Wandering Isle...

Uncle Gao says: Are you deaf? We aren't allowing anybody in the brewery right now.

Chen Stormstout says: There is no need to speak to me that way.

Chen notices an Unruly Alemental by the giant keg.

Chen Stormstout says: Wait - what is going on behind you!

Uncle Gao says: Huh? That's... that's nothing! Now GO AWAY!

I had no choice but to defend myself.

Chen and the Alemental fight, and Chen defeats it.

I was shaken, but I did not give up. I pursued the strange old brewer to ask him some more questions.

Chen walks out onto the balcony of the brewery.

Uncle Gao says: What, were you sent to check up on me? Everything's fine! It's all under control!

Chen Stormstout says: Come, speak with me! Let's sit down and talk. Have a beer together...

Uncle Gao says: There will be no sitting. No talking. And none of your horrible beer!

Uncle Gao says: Hey, what's that behind you?

Wuk-wuk, a white hozen, appears!

Wuk-Wuk yells: *hic* Gimme more of that ook-dooglin' BEER! *hic*

Chen and Wuk-Wuk fight, and Wuk-Wuk is defeated.

First beer elementals, and now a hozen attack? Something was very wrong.

I decided to give him one more chance. I was not about to give up on family.

Chen walks up a ramp, past some Beer-Crazed Virmen resting on barrels, and re-enters the brewery.

Uncle Gao says: How many times must I tell you... GO AWAY!

Chen Stormstout says: I don't understand, old man. What have I done to upset you?

Uncle Gao says: It's not what you've done, it's who you are. You are not welcome here, "Chen Stormstout."

That was all I needed to hear. Shunned... by my own blood! I turned and left.

This quest is irritating at best. It requires certain actions to trigger progression and often something will finally spawn and it will make Chen run back to some random checkpoint requiring YOU to run Chen BACK to what just triggered. I stood there for a few seconds like WTF do I do next... all I had to do was run at the guy Chen was chasing to finally finish this off. This would be incredibly short if it didn't make Chen run BACK to pointless plot checks just because it took him forever to start the next part of this 'story.'

I didn't dismiss my pet (hunter pet) and that wasn't an issue for me. Just seems to be buggy or poorly executed.

Don't forget to complete Li Li's day off quest first Ok, so in a 'do'h' moment, I found that Chen would not appear until LiLi's quest was complete. Hopefully I can save somebody else from some facepalming!

The map above is quite misleading: while you do get transported to Uncle Gao during the quest, Chen is actually at 68.9,43.4 to both begin and end this quest.

After killing Wuk-Wuk run upstairs and find Uncle Gao. If he doesn't tell you to GO AWAY at first, all you need to do is run back towards the door you came in and then run back to him.

He will eventually tell you to go away and thus, the quest will be completed.
