Shan Jitong will rip your spirit out of your body and drag you to him. When this happens, you need to run back to your body and click to return to it. However, if you're quick, you can click on your body in the moment between being ripped out of it and being dragged to Shan.

The statue monster will start channeling a self-heal when you're removed from your body. Interrupt this as soon as you're back in control.

Shan Jitong will lose his damage immunity after a short Rp following the death of the statue.

When you get the quest, Shan Jitong will appear by the altar and pull Pei-Zhi through another portal. He's not attackable at that point, and then they both disappear through the portal. What's confusing is that if you have automatic quest tracking on, the quest tracker requirement is "Shan Jitong slain", but he couldn't be attacked when he was there, and now he's not.

You need to run to a nearby terrace and that's where you'll be able to complete the quest. It's NOT at the altar where you turned in the previous step.

Having trouble finding the boss? It's easier than finding your local Pei-Wei restuarant! To find the Stonebound Colosus, turn your back to Pei-Zhi's altar so you face south. Walk about 5 steps forward. Turn right. Walk west for about 30 steps until you see the archway for the Seat of the Spirit Walker on your right. Enter and fight the Stonebound Colosus.

You don't fight the boss Shan Jitong until after you kill the Stonebound Colossus.

And remember kids: unlike Shan Jitong, Pei Wei's Mandarin Kung Pao Chicken does not rip your spirit from your body.

When I went where the map told me to I was shocked to only find a huge colossus with over 1m health and no Shan Jitong. But yes, it is indeed the huge colossus you fight. Luckily he didn't do much damage to me, but then again I am a prot paladin.

Ocassionally Shan Jitong will grip you out of your body while you are fighting the colossus. Run back to your body and click it to end your out of body experience so that you may interrupt whatever devious thing that colossus is channeling. When you have defeated the colossus you will be able to fight Shan Jitong and complete the quest.

It seems like other people doing the quest at the same time won't affect your fight. I saw other players there, standing completely still at times and flying about occasionally. It was quite funny to watch.

I'm a lvl 86 mage, with about 140K health. Any tips on how to defeat a colossus with a strength of over a million? Even mirror doesn't do the trick, and I just die every time.

It wasn't obvious to me but, to interrupt the giant and get out of the spirit world, you need to click your body (you get a glove with a gold outline to click). At first I was just standing on my body and not able to leave the spirit world until the buff ended and I couldn't kill the giant because it would always regenerate fully.

This battle can be taxing on a Mistweaver, since it will take a very long time soloing the Stonebound Colossus as it has over 1.25 million HP (about 1,264,000) and he will regain a little bit of his health each time your soul has been ripped from your body.

However, the Stonebound Colossus can be paralyzed, so use Paralysis if you need time to drink your Mana Tea. It will also interrupt his healing channel. Interestingly enough, while he is channeling he will be facing away from you, which will double the effect of Paralysis from 30 seconds to 60 seconds which will give you more than enough time to drink all 20 stacks of Mana Tea if you so desire.

Shan Jitong can also be paralyzed, but you should be able to whittle him down with no effort as he only has 158k HP.

The easiest way the kill them is to aggro the Stonebound Colossus and kite it to the small staircase. If you keep him there at the staircase Shan Jitong won't be able to pull you from your body because you'll be out of his range. Just don't let him go up the steps, doing so will cancel the battle and reset his health. I also kept constantly freezing him and frostbombing him to keep him where I wanted.

This was a fun fight. Just remember to get back to your body!
It makes it easier to fight near Shan Jitong so you don't have to go too far to get back to your body.

Pull the giant over to the just before the steps so you don't get ripped out of your body. You can stand there and finally take out the big guy.

First time I didn't know I had to also take out the small guy so I didn't heal up and had to run. Do over!

Use the steps. When you kill the big guy you have time to heal. Then run in and take out the smaller one.

Ah so here you are and you would like those blue shoulders ! It will take a while,but never fear there is a way to get here :>). First you have to complete the quest series that starts with The Sprites' Plight (sorry I don't know how to hyper link). Looking at the Jade forest map....above Sri-La Village is a stream,heading along it towards Tian Monastery,you will see a fallen sprite with the yellow exclamation mark on the right hand side(shows up on mini-map). When you complete this series,there will be a series of pop-up quests which culminate with this quest.

Shan-Jitong is at the seat of the spirit walker at 42. 10 once you accept the quest and he goes through the portal. You have to kill the stonebound colossus first the get to him. You will be pulled out of your body a few times, but you will be close by so get back to it before the stone dude regains too much health or it will be a long fight. After u kill the stone dude u get to fight Shan-Jitong.

I am an 86 Frost Mage.
After dying once, I tried a different tactic. I retreated to the stairs (the first time, too far, and the encounter ended). Once there, I mostly fired frostbolts at my water boy to keep him alive, blasting the big guy whenever my threat went below 80. Worked like a charm.

If you get there and someone from the other faction is already engaged in the fight, just stick around and you'll get credit.

I showed up (on a horde rogue) and an Alliance was already half way through the fight. Just sat back in stealth waiting for her to finish. Soon as she did I also got credit.

Okay here's exactly what you do, as many comments confused me.
You go to the area where the quest number on your map is, the temple where the Stonebound Colossus wanders. To activate the quest, begin killing the Stonebound Colossus. Shan Jitong will appear shortly after, and begin ripping your spirit out of your body. ASAP return to your body and interrupt the big guy from regenerating and kill him, and ignore Shan Jitong. Pull the Colossus toward the steps as soon as you're able, meaning Shan Jitong cannot reach you therefore he cannot pull away your spirit. Focus on killing Stonebound Colossus, and when he's a corpse, Pei-Zhi would be released, and then Jitong will exclaim, then you start attacking him; an easy kill. The quest is completed.

Long story short:
1. Go to the temple.
2. Hit the Stonebound Colossus.
3. ONLY attack the Stoundbound Colossus for now.
4. Return to body asap if ripped from it.
5. Pull the Colossus toward the steps, continue to kill.
5. Attack Shan Jitong, kill.

Quest Complete.

I had completed All storylines except for Terrace of Ten Thunders, and had no idea as to where it starts.
The co-ords are 48.57 20.69.
It's a statue head. It starts the questline.

If you are quick to click at your body at the time Shan Jitong pulled your soul out, you can avoid having your soul dragged away and walking to your body. Shan Jitong will drag you instead. Must be that he have a nasty GCD too!

If you just engage the colossus out of site Shan Jitong he will not rip your soul from you. Very easy with any kind of ranged character.

I don't know if they changed something with this or what. Done it before with other toons, but doing it right now with my priest and even when standing by the stairs I get ripped out of my body repeatedly. Really irritating.

For high level people doing this quest for transmog purposes, if you one-shot the Stonebound Colossus you will not be able to progress in the quest. Instead, use the Soft Foam Sword toy to greatly damage the Stonebound Colossus (without killing it), complete the mini-event, and THEN you will be able to kill Shan Jitong.

FWIW, I was just able to do this as 110 by taking off all my armor and punching the Stonebound Colossus with my fist. After a few hits, Shan Jitong showed himself.

No need to get rez sickness or take off your armor at high levels, just use the Soft Foam Sword.

I'm trying to complete this quest chain. I'm on the quest titled Pei-Back in the jade forest i kill the stone bound colossus walking around and I free pei-zhi. I'm assuming the target Shan Jitong should appear but he doesn't instead after about a minute the collosus respawns and I have to release pei-zhi again. Can someone help me?.

Anyone knows how can I finish the quest? I've been trying with my lvl 50 DH by using the foam sword but I get "invalid target". I suspect it's because the level squish since pre-patch and mob no longer appears as "trivial difficulty". I submitted a bug, however I'm interested in another workaround.

For anyone oneshotting the colossus - just kill yourself and get ress sickness. Even stripped bare I was hitting him for 30K, resurrection sickness was the easiest and fastest option.
(Soft Foam Sword wasn't usable)

Soft Foam Sword worked on the colossus today on a lvl 60 warrior, was able to complete the quest that way, so maybe they fixed it.

I am a level 60 Beast Mastery Hunter. I bought the toy sword for 50 gold and it did nothing for me. What I did was jumped off the highest cliff I could find and died. Then, I took rez sickness and took off all my armor. That allowed me to hit him a couple of times, bring out the Pei-Back (main enemy?); he was able to take my spirit out of my body and I retrieved it and killed him in .5 seconds. I hope that helps someone. Thank you all for the suggestions! :)

As level 60 mage, strip down and use auto-attack (no need for death sickness).

Just keep auto attack until your spirit gets ripped out of your body.

Run back to your body, kill the collosus and then kill Jitong

Monks can use Jade lightening to attract the mob, then you can kill it.

As of 5/5/23 if level 60+
1. Remove all gear and buffs. You won't have time later.
2. Fly straight up into the air and remove your mount, falling to your doom.
3. Take rez sickness and HURRY - you only have a minute.
4. Walk up and smack him and the rest falls into place.
-- none of the other tricks/combinations worked. Everything else killed him too fast.

My lvl 60 demonhunter was able to use the soft foam sword toy suggested in the comments as of 1/14/2024. Was able to wack him without killing him, then waited to get my spirit zoinked from my body. Killed the collossus after returning to my body.
