You fight off waves of incoming Scamps (Forest Sprites) while Aysa is meditating. As you're fighting, she's conversing with the spirit of a Master Li Fei, and their speech gives you information about what's going on. Be sure and check the chat log when you're done protecting her, if you weren't able to follow along while you fought.

When she finishes meditating, you don't follow up with her (at the time I'm writing this, it's Beta, so that could change). Instead you go back to the entrance of the cave and speak with Master Shang Xi. He gives you the next quest.

While Aysa is meditating, she has a conversation with a spirit named Li Fei. Here is a transcript, in case you missed the dialogue in-game because you were too busy fighting monsters. :)

Aysa Cloudsinger says: Keep those creatures at bay while I meditate. We'll soon have the answers we seek.
Master Li Fei's voice echoes, "The way of the Tushui... enlightenment through patience and meditation... the principled life."
Master Li Fei's voice echoes, "It is good to see you again, Aysa. You've come with respect, and so I shall give you the answers you seek."
Master Li Fei's voice echoes, "Huo, the spirit of fire, is known for his hunger. He wants for tinder to eat. He needs the caress of the wind to rouse him."
Master Li Fei's voice echoes, "If you find these things and bring them to his cave, on the far side of Wu-Song Village, you will face a challenge within."
Master Li Fei's voice echoes, "Overcome that challenge, and you shall be graced by Huo's presence. Rekindle his flame, and if your spirit is pure, he shall follow you."
Master Li Fei's voice echoes, "Go, children. We shall meet again very soon."
Master Li Fei fades away.
Aysa Cloudsinger says: And so our path lays before us. Speak to Master Shang Xi, he will tell you what comes next.

I found it easier to just run around the room in a circle avoiding stuff till she had finished meditating

I goofed, and would aggro too many each time.

If you're low on health, take any chance you get and eat some food. The sprites come rushing in quite fast, putting you in combat right away.

Stand in front of Aysa and eat, I found it worked once or twice just giving me enough health to get through the next waves.

I decided to roll a Rogue and see if Stealth would allow you to sit and wait it out in this quest.

Nope. The Amberleafs will still see you regardless.

So, Rogues, if you're thinking of leveling to level 5 and using Stealth to cheese the quest, you can't. It would just be far faster to finish the quest and continue on than to grind to level 5.

Just a heads up, if you abandon the quest (I had to go AFK for a minute) it seems to glitch out and hordes of Scamps continue coming without the quest ever completing. I was unable to complete the quest or even get the dialogue with Master Li Fei to appear, so I had to remake my character. :(

I just helped my recruited-friend work through this. It's only her third character and she was ready to shatter because she just couldn't manage it as a mage, she's too squishy.

Hm, try the run round in circles trick? Lived longer than hitting random buttons, but no dice.

Hm, take advantage of blink? While running in circles. pasted flat, cornered against a wall. oopsy.

I asked about her armor, is it yellow/out of durability? Oooh, curious. The durability on her robes didn't going down. Yay, I guess...

"Eat when you can" since shes not ever out of combat AND the only food on her is nice buff food, that's... suboptimal. Not enough health or luck, and the buff doubled doesn't make her enough a powerhouse. Feh.

HERE is how she won it on her squishy Mage. I figured maybe she should try clearing the sprites around the outdoors before going in? Give a few moments respite? She'd gotten kinda close at least once in this death march.

Went outdoors a bit, plotted pasting one with frostbolt.
They just respawn only-kinda-fast. Hmph
BUT on the one paw if you stand at JUST the right distance, any sprite you target that's heading inward, turn to follow them, let loose. it counts to advance the Timer.
AND on the other paw at that same distance, if they don't race in you can finish them off.

The bolt then hits a foe so far into the cave that if they survive it (e.g. you didn't crit) they have to come running back out to come get you. Maybe the two pandaren defenders kill them, maybe you do. But she lived, and her hitpoints barely got dinged at all, and I'm mostly sure that's from the one at the static spawn point instead of from the incoming Foes.

They didn't seem to be "waves", rather just a continued flow of them.

Don't use frost blast, or fire blast. It tags too many at a time, that method got her squished. Single combat and STAY RANGED was her key.

I have a pandaren mage, does anyone have any tips on beating this quest? I continually die.

Look at the pavement at the entrance of the building. Stand where the large flat stones meet with the smaller ones. Many of the sprites will run past you and not attack you. This was the only way I could beat it.

Description

It's a pleasure to meet you, <class>. I am Aysa, of the Tushui.

I've spent much time in thought since Master Shang told me we would be searching for Huo, the spirit of fire. I know where he resides, but not how to reach him. The answers are close, however.

Come with me to the Cave of Meditation nearby. It is a place of great wisdom. I will meditate there, open my mind, and the path shall find us.
