You have to go down into the cavern of blackfathom depths. There is some crystals on the walls which has a chance to drop the crystals. 2 or 4 crystals drop every time.

This quest counts toward the Ashenvale Quest.

This quest is almost the same as the one given out by Je'Neu Sacrai, who is now just inside the instance. It also requires 20 of the crystals and you can have both quests open at the same time, you just can't collect much more than 20 crystals, as it requires you to turn them in.

This is not a Mage only quest as I did it on my Shaman (an Orc)

Je'Neu Sacrai wouldn't offer my goblin warrior this quest. i was able to obtain it from Dagrun Ragehammer though.

The crystals seem to have great elemental power and, if used inappropriately, could make for a powerful component for my smithing.

Maybe it is just me but the quest text only makes sense if "inappropriately" becomes "appropriately". Typo?

Right now completing this quest extracts exactly 20 of Sapphire of Aku'Mai from your inventory. Be sure to delete any extras so they don't waste space until quest is fixed.

Miners can track the Crystals by having Find Minerals activated on the minimap.

The problem with phasing with this quest has been fixed as of 7.1.

I was able to do it on my level 30 character on 2 November 2016.

Ent to the underwater cave is at 13, 13...when you get to the bottom of that tower pool, just go to this loc and keep swimming. GL!

Description

Within the beginning tunnels of Blackfathom Deeps, there are large sapphire clusters along the cave walls. We noticed that the naga started harvesting the crystals around the same time their weaponry greatly improved.

The crystals seem to have great elemental power and, if used inappropriately, could make for a powerful component for my smithing.

Will you help me, <name>? Blackfathom Deeps can be found along Zoram Strand to the north of our outpost.
