G'nathus (a giant purple eel) and his Spawn (smaller but still giant purple eels) can be found around Shan'ze Dao, an island in Townlong.

G'nathus itself has about 43 million HP and hits for 200k-300k on plate, and it paths all around the island except for a point where it turns back around. Its Spawn have about 4 million HP and hit for about 20k-30k (same for its ranged Nature damage attack) on plate, and they can be found at various elevations underwater, from just beneath the surface to hundreds of yards below.

I imagine the sole method of killing G'nathus will be kiting, much like the Whale Shark (which can also be found swimming in various incarnations in Pandaria).

Neither mob has a known loot table. The Spawn seems to be that of a generic mob, with chances of world drops and green uncommon items as well as Motes of Harmony and grey trash items.

For convenience, here's some relevant info.

Spawns of G'nathus aren't anything but decoration mobs, really. They drop vendor trash along with Motes of Harmony and Greens - typically mob loot. The most interesting loot this mob drops is Eel Blood, a grey item with flavor text, which is only shared by Amberglass Crab, who...strangely enough...isn't an eel.

G'nathus himself is rumored to drop Serpent's Cache, but the only logged drops I know of were only Sharp Fangs.

G'nathus is impossible to solo-kite, unless you use some sort of water walking or faster method than back-pedaling, as he moves much faster than the Whale Shark of Cataclysm. 1 Tank and 1 Healer are necessary to fight him unless you can find an ingenious way to kite him, and adding DPS will just make him die faster. 3+ Man fight recommended.

Spawn of G'nathus is a PTR 5.2 drop, but he does NOT drop from G'nathus. Instead, he drops from Zandalari Dinomancer, a mob not found in the real game at current (Source: Pet Journal). It is unknown if Spawn of G'nathus will be added to G'nathus' loot table after 5.2 or not, but there is yet no mention of it.

EDIT: Links to PTR.Wowhead are not displaying properly. The Spawn of G'nathus can be seen by scrolling over but NPC 69925 (Dinomancer) must be clicked on to see it.

This guy also drops the like-named companion pet Spawn of G'nathus.

In 7.3.5 Spawn of G'nathus does indeed drop from G'nathus. Just looted it from him (the only kill so not auto-looted from another NPC). The top comment, below, is now out of date.
