These guys are far more common then their previous Spell Power holders. Additionally, it seemed that few if any of their spawn spots are capable of spawning anything but Bash'ir Spell-Thieves (so clearing the entire spawn area is unnecessary, the other spots simply won't spawn more and nothing else takes their place.)

I'm sure most people couldn't care less about stories of how fast other people got the pattern, but for my own experience, the 2man group I did this with got a pair of enchants in roughly 30 minutes. From this and the above posts, I'm positive the drop rate is incredibly higher, and far easier to farm due to the higher population.

I got lucky... about an hour, no one else around. I'm a mid-kara geared fire mage, most of the spell-thieves went down before they reached me.

Farmed this today, took 193 kills (bad luck?)

All of the spell-thief spawns are static and they don't share them with anything else. I farmed them in a circuit, i wouldn't recommend trying without a flying mount. With a flying mount i found it pretty easy to skirt it behind the spell-thieves and pull them alone. Here is where i found them, how many i pulled from each spot, and where i stood.

Start of the circuit:
Pulled 3 @ 54,15 (1 patrolled to that point) I stood at the end of the purple glowing hallway thing.

Pulled 4 @ 53,12 (1 patrolled to there). I stood on the right side of another purple hallway like thing and pulled another thief behind me at the mouth of a corral type thing.

1 @ 55,10 standing in front of a post. Pretty congested area, i recommend landing your mount right on top of him.

1 @ 51,13 He patrols up to the end of another purple hallway.

1 @ 51,17 I pulled this guy from a little rocky knoll just south of him.

1 @ 50,17 Pull this guy from above him on another knoll.

1 @ 49,16 Pull to a knoll between him and the purple boobs.

1 @ 53,19 East of the mob there is a small knoll.

1 @ 54,17 This one is kinda tricky, i found it best to aim for the middle of a 3 pillar formation on the back of this knoll. if you come in and dispel the mount you will notice a wasp on your right, one on your left, and a ghost directly between you and the mob. The mob stands in a little corral type thing and can be safely pulled without pissing off the ghost. If you fight him too far forward on the knoll then you will pull the ghost anyway. I stood right at the base of that pillar and didn't move.

All told i killed about 10 mobs that weren't spell thieves, not bad in my estimation.

Been farming these for about 5+ hours now.
Swstats says i've seen roughly 430 of them die and i've yet to see it drop.

Enchanting 355 so that part should be fine.

I guess i'm just THAT lucky.

edit: ok, did 1 last run before going out and after about 440 kills i got it.

A few notes about these guy's abilities: He has an ability that reduces magic damage by 20% and he will use it halfway through the fight. I'm not sure if he also has a buff that reduces melee damage by 20%. Also, when fought in groups, any DoT or other magical debuff placed upon another enemy mob will be absorbed to the Spell-Thief. This ability seems to occur around every 8 seconds or so.

Beware of the Arcanists when fighting these mobs, as they WILL take you down, very fast.
These guys look like Bash'ir Raiders, the only difference is that they're carrying magical blades that are larger than the Raider's blades.

I guess I got lucky. This enchant dropped for me after 10 or so kills. Shouldn't be too difficult to farm this. The mob is plentiful and you will find them everywhere, especially next to the tunnel-esqe structures. Three spawn here, one patrolling through the center and two on the sides.

I seldomly post here but this is just too much for me to not share: So I read all the posts and take a good look at the 0.7% drop rate and told myself: Okay, get ready for a good ol' 3 hour+ grind. I got wizard oil, food buffs, BEM flask and 5 stacks of mage biscuits and flew to Bash'ir Landing. Right after I land, the very first kill, boom there is the receipe. I lol'd irl and all the "I hate you" from other enchanters in guild chat only make the experience so much better

After formerly farming the Razaani's for days without luck, I rechecked the recipe drop location on Wowhead, only to find out that the Bashir Spell Thieves seems to have a much higher drop rate. Well they DO. Got the recipe on my _2nd kill_. If it weren't for a couple of random blues and my reputation with the Consortium being raised by 3,5k from all those key drops, I'd have to say "thanks for the time spent".

i have been farming for the enchant recipe for multiple days, and i have probably killed a couple hundred of these guys, what gives? my enchanting is only 340, is that a problem?

You can get this with enchanting skill 340, I just did, I got it on my 2nd kill. ^^

Took me two days to get the enchant, but in the meanwhile I had fun with these guys. As a holy paladin, I found I could easily do this 5 mobs at a time. The only issue is that if you are going to use Paladin AoE tactics in here, just be wary of the casters. If you get one, deal with him first. And try to not get more than one.

Also, AoE in here had many benefits as I got 3-4 full stacks of netherweave and 50 apexis shards and 4 ethereum prison keys while farming for the chant.

It was seriously the first time I had fun farming.

It dropped on my second kill. I was prepared for at least an hour of farming. So I stayed around and farmed anyway. <<

The guys drop a good amount of Netherweave in this area. Proved quite useful as a Tailor. You can also get the Apexis Shards in here. But you knew that. >>

Took me 251 kills to get this sucker to drop the formula, but as a Warlock it only took me about an hour and 45 minutes.

Got it in an hr.

Fly to each location if you don't feel like messing with the others. They can drop some good stuff including motes of mana, but if you are pressed for time definitely fly.

Make sure you can differentiate between raiders and spell thief. Spell thief have brighter orange/yellow cloth and stand differently. Otherwise you will be wasting time accidently killing raiders who don't drop it.

Now adays there are daily quests on killing these mobs, so the droprate on wowhead will be even lower, but dont let it scare you.

The Spellpower formula only took 20-30 kills for me. Im a rogue. So i only killed wat i had to. Took no more than a half a hour considering i went there having no idea where they spawn. Easy farm, and a great chant.

Got the Major Spellpower after 6 mobs. (Lucky me?) Id say the drop chance is higher than 3%.

This makes absolutely no sense... At the moment I have 85 Apexis Shard in my inventory. Let's say the 32% droprate is correct. Then I have killed 3 x 85 mobs = 255 mobs. And have I found the recipe for major spellpower on weap? No of cause not. Nice dropchance.

I lucked out for once. Farmed for this recipe tonight and after about 15 kills it dropped. One of the easiest recipes I've farmed for so far.

u can get here w/o a flying mount i got here on my 68 lock. just get on ur ground mound run up through the jagged north part of the map blocking this area off and run and jump along the sides until it says ur in the area, then kill urself and res at spirit healer.

As others say below, good drop rate for this recipe these days (which is still great for low-level caster heirlooms). Got it after killing maybe a dozen random ethereals in Bash'ir Landing (in Blade's Edge Mountains). In fact, looted two at once from the final pack of them (though too bad they're BoP ;-)

As of today, it took me 6 kills total - 4 thieves, and 2 accidental raiders. Yipee!
