I got bored when my character stopped in time (no progression). Now, I am raiding and finally killing bosses. And... I don't want firelands yet, I want to clear the raids... yet, with a casual guild, maybe Cho'gal will be killed only next Monday...But I reduced my time spent on WoW, maybe because of extreme easy heroic dungeons (after the nerfs plus 357 item level). Maybe with 4.1 I will play more, because I love mounts and want the new ones. =)
While, prima facie, this seems like a good thing?Long before their acquisition by Activision, Blizzard had built a solid reputation for releasing products When They Are Done™. I feel that this commitment to quality has been slipping, more recently, in favor of release dates. The most recent patch, being an excellent example of this. Crazy bugs everywhere. My entire raid team, after being mass-rezzed, ended up floating in the air outside BWD and falling to our deaths. (MORE durability damage) Reentering the raid instance required half of us to quit and restart our WoW clients. Ridiculous.I would rather have solid content, less often, than buggy as hell content, more often. I'm not paying to play Microsoft Online.
I'm still not convinced that there is a complete lack of content. Just like in wrath everyone is farming the same heroics over and over again to gear up for raids. Back in wrath when I had gotten to the point where I didn't need anything from heroics I didn't play as much. I'd only log on to raid or do solo stuff and daillies but still had a lot of fun playing. In my opinion it may seem that there is less solo content for players since they introduced archievements in Wrath and tons of people got a lot of the soloable ones done then, so when cata came out there were only the new cata and the old world quest achievements to do. But I think there is still plenty of group content in Cata, 2 raids with a descent amount of bosses and 1 raid 2 bosses, and of course there is Baradin Hold. Overall it isnt much different from when Wrath launched, We had Naxx which was a really big raid, we had malygos and vault which were both 1 boss at the time, and we had sarth which had 3 mini bosses and 1 big boss. If anything there was less variety in raid content in wrath than in cata when they both started. Leveling in Cata did go very quickly, but I think its important to understand that the main point of the game is to do the end game content. I have several friends that i've gotten into wow for a time but had to stop because of money issues, Their number 1 complaint though was that leveling was boring as hell and they just wanted it to be over so they could really play the game. This is why I have no problem with making the leveling content smoother and easier. All the tons of herilooms and the new guild xp perks make it very easy to level. I kind of wish they would let me give heirlooms to my friends so they could catch up faster. Now I've seen a lot of people complain that faster leveling means people don't learn their class and thus are doomed to suck at the game. But let's be honest, when we first hit level cap on our very first toon whatever the expansion may be we probably sucked at the class. A friend of mine that did stick around to keep playing sucked when he first hit level cap back in wrath. His hunter almost always had the lowest dps in any dungeon or raid we did. But once he got some tips and experience about playing his class from other people he became one of our guilds best dps. Moral of this story is: No one is going to be fantastic at first, and we all sucked at one point. Well that's probably enough of a rant. Thanks for reading my opinion if you made it this far :D
While the idea of faster content is good, I just hope they don't increase speed while decreasing quantity. Sure, putting out new raid tiers with 7 bosses is fine, but putting out ONLY one raid tier with 7 bosses isn't. Hope they'll do more "beefier" content like Firelands but with more than one place. As for Diablo III. We're waiting Blizzard. Get too it!*Leap Attack*HEEEEEEE!

I'm not amazed nor worried too much but I think Blizzard needs to do more than push content out faster. Right now they're catering to all the hardcore raiders and pvpers rather than the casual player. A lot of the 'shiny stuff' is only obtainable if you have time to do all this. There are a lot that don't have that kind of time. I really liked TotalBiscuits idea that had us doing different levels of raid content more than just normal and heroic. I really wish Blizzard would implement something like this.
BTW 600,000 out of 12 million is only 5%. That's not really a very noticeable drop-off in subscribers, and we don't even know if it's really an overall downward trend, or a lull.I think faster expansions are a good idea. I don't really care right now, but I know that a lot of people do. I'm working on leveling alts, so I'm not going to get bored of content for quite a while. But I can imagine tons of people who have single or one/two toons who have cleared the Raids and will get bored quickly if new expansions are too slow.Cheers.
Hooray for faster patches.
