It's only a caching issue it will eventually count your downvote.
So, any plans on going back to the 1000 times more awesome old look?
Biggest recommendation is that if you don't want non-outdated comments being chucked into the deletion queue for the removal they may deserve, give us a method for actually removing them. The vote system can work for this, provided that poorly-rated comments are actually shown as visually distinct. The current approach of simply ordering them in descending order is adequate for pages with many comments (because you'll likely never even reach the bad comments), but on pages with fewer its difficult to note the dividing line between the good and bad comments.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
I don't think extra notice would have helped either but your post suggests to me that what hasn't been communicated well enough were the reasons for the changes and the issues with the system that the changes were implemented to fix.It wasn't done on a whim and it wasn't done despite users but to increase the ease of use and improve the experience of the majority of users. The old system had lots of issue but for the most part they were issues that everyone had grown to accept and overlook. That doesn't mean that they weren't there and it doesn't mean that they didn't have a large and detrimental effect on the site as a whole.
I still don't like the new system, and even though I'm probably just reiterating points that have already been made, I want to explain why: it doesn't "increase the ease of use and improve the experience" for me - it makes things much more clunky, nonsensical, and hard for me to find information I need. I'm seeing a ton more useless comments than I did in the old system. In the old system, if a comment had a score of -2 or worse, it was collapsed. It wasn't visible, it didn't clutter my screen, and it didn't get in my way of finding the information I was looking for. Now, I just saw almost an entire page of comments with scores from anywhere from -2 to -10, all visible, all a distracting eyesore. I sort comments by date, not by rating, because a high rating does not necessarily mean helpful, but even if I sorted by rating, there's no reason for any of these to be visible no matter how low down on the list they are. Also, replies to comments have been neutered. There were many replies that were longer than the new limit of 500 characters, many with high scores because they had helpful information relating to the comment they were replying to, and now that extra information has been destroyed. At any rate, that's my two copper.
I do agree that comments with a negative rating should be collapsable. Keep how it is currently as the default setting, but give people an option that will automatically collapse negative comments (and deleted ones at that). The idea was nice, but since everyone vote deletes everything regardless of rating, the reasoning behind not making the collapse has gone out the window.
Sometimes we need line-breaks. For example, I just posted a link to a thread on the official WoW forums to verify information I was giving in a reply here. It would have looked better if I'd been able to break to a new line after the link, before my explanation. As it is, everything just runs together and makes my OCD clatter like wet worgen's teeth.
@the8thark: You can easily set the listing format to "Oldest First" at the top of the comment section on each page, to the right of "Add comment". There is also a "Filter by Patch:" dropdown menu next to it to allow you to list it on that as well.
Issue with voting on replies: When trying to upvote, I get the message "Error - Post in feedback forum". When trying to downvote, I get a huge overlay with a 404 error which seems to be pulled from http://www.wowhead.com/comment=downvote-reply as there even is an "Archive" link at the upper left :P
No line breaks ruins all my replies. I guess i won't bother making any then. Not much information to add to existing pages, given how long all the content's been out for, so I'll just stop commenting until MoP.Seriously, I'm a stickler for formatting and I hate it when my comments look like @#$%.
I like the new fresh looking UI interface and everything seems more natural. Great job and thanks!
Sorry to necro this, but I don't have the vote options even if I have enough rep. Do I need to activate something? For info I'm using firefox.Thanks.
