I seem to have quite a bit of reputation... Interesting!I like this new system :)
After browsing for a bit, I can say something:the ability to see deleted comments is more of a curse than a privilege, I'm about to suffer brain damage after reading some very stupid stuff posted.Good thing it's optional as the comment is not visible to begin with (you have to press the "show comment" button). I'll think twice before pressing it from now on!
Axyn: I was kidding. They really do need to consider decreasing the rep gained from screenshots though.
Still playin around with this, and I find one thing just mind-boggling.....How the hell did adashiel get over 18,000 screenshots? No offence, but that makes Interest's 60k posts look bad. Has he/she screenshot every player and item in the game? Holy crap.
I'm excited to see what this will do for the comments and screenshots posted on the site, personally.
I love it!As always, I have questions. I still really do love it though, no doubt.
I really love the ability to opt for deletion of outdated comments. Especially all the changes that the Cataclysm has wrought have left a large amount of redundant comments in their wake, what with changed/removed quests, now-useless items and relocated NPCs. This feature will finally clean up the comments and give people a better overview of what an NPC/quest/item/etc currently does, rather than obscuring it with what it used to do. Chapeau. ^^The only thing that's slightly bothering me (but only slightly) is the "edited by" text being blue. I keep thinking that one of the admins has posted something sensible, heh. And judging by some of the other comments, I'm not the only one who's being distracted by the attention-seeking colouring. ;)
You may want to consider following the (extremely successful) example of StackExchange and make downvotes subtract equal amounts of rep from both the voter and the votee. This winds up being good for several reasons, but mainly because you get more meaningful downvotes and fewer frivolous ones - partly because there's a penalty and partly because the penalty means you get downvotes from people with higher reps. And the penalty doesn't hurt things because downvotes are not something you need in large volumes; two or three will do the job whenever they're warranted.
The downrating doesn't seem to benefit from the double vote perk (the uprating works fine); I see a comment going down either 1 point or none at all (the latter mostly when the comment was already at +0). Also, just now I got an error with the tip to reload or send a mail to the feedback email - I suspect it's merely the "you reached your daily voting limit" message, which suddenly shows as a generic error message. Might be confusing.
Are we no longer able to link stuff from the database using names for the links? I.e if I want to link a Warglaive and make the text say "Warglaive of Azzinoth" instead of the standard URL? A lot of clever and fun comments were made using this, but it seems to be gone now.
I don't think so
