It all started a couple years ago. I met a friend doing capping for conquest for the week doing arenas. After that we ended up capping every week together. We duo-ed old raids together and did everything together. I had his back in every argument in guild chat, we've raced to see who the fastest leveler 1-90 was. We didn't know who each other were, but we told each other our names one day. I thought I was the only person at my school that played wow, but this guy was one of my friends at school. We had English and government together. So now we are non-stop making plans for duo-ing raids and getting x-mog items. The English teacher actually had to tell us to be quiet because we were disrupting the class. I was one of the lucky ones and already knew this person in real life and got to become friends with them twice. One virtual and one for real. But they both seem so similar. Best of luck to everyone out there. I hope you guys meet up with your virtual friends!
When i started playing in 2008, I was overwhelmed by the game. Luckily, a cool guy invited me to his guild. It was a casual guild, all they would do would be running heroics. He was awesome, and his girlfriend would run me through low lvl dungeons or lvl 70 heroics. Once I got max lvl, the three of us discussed making our own raid team. We formed a 25 man raid team of the newbies and the unwanted from trade chat. Along with them, we taught and learned the raid bosses. It was a pretty awesome experience and didnt know I could get to know someone like the guild leaders so well over the internet, or develop a bond with them like I did!
This could be really interesting or go terribly wrong, get your popcorn.
I Didn't meet my friend on WoW but it has certainly helped my freindship blossom . We are now best freinds and speak every day due to WoW . :D
I love my BFF
I bet I'm not the only one who met their soulmate in WoW :) I was in a few guilds and in all of them I met some good friends, we always liked to meet in real life to get a beer or so. I personally think that for those who really care about those who they play with don't need a TV show to actually meet them ;)
Only met one person IRL from my WoW playing; mostly becuse I play on an east coast server and i live in SoCal.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
Back in Cataclysm,My friend and I used the ''Super Guild Invite'' addon.A guy joined our guild...We were raiding together, battlegrounds and more...As the time was going by...we became best friends and he came to visit us few months ago for seven days and he will come again on August! We still play WoW the three of us and have lot of fun!P.S: Our friend is from another country.
My in game partner in crime & I met back in Burning Crusade. I had transferred off my PVP realm (Lightning's Blade) and onto an RP realm (Farstriders) that a real life friend of mine was on and running their raid team. I leveled up my warrior, and she was in the guild as a druid. We got to talking, running alts together, and generally just planning everything out. Then she moved her druid off server and started playing her priest. Since this was before LFG and such, she started healing on her priest and I was tanking on my warrior. Anything we wanted to do, we could because any DPS was begging to come with us. Farstriders was a fairly low population server and our guild wasn't going anywhere with raiding, so she & I moved to Eonar where a couple coworkers of mine had some stuff going on. From there, when that fell apart we went to Echo Isles and then just lost interest in raiding in general for a while and we went around playing alts. I quit playing for a while towards the end of tBC and another friend picked up my tab for WotLK so I was over on Azgalor. During this time, she & I lost contact for the most part but reconnected again at the end of WotLK. While we were hanging out during the last part of WotLK, she mentioned that her guild was looking to go to transfer to another server and go Alliance (she went horde for WotLK & I was still Alliance). Because I didn't really have the money to go transfer another server or faction I quit playing again. Then came Cataclysm. My brother-in-law and I were really interested in the changes for Cataclysm. So he & I moved all my toons over to Malygos and we started to make plans for all of our other RL friends to come back and get things going on our terms (spoiler: it failed). During the first month or 2 before Cataclysm actually hit, I decided to look up my friend's hunter and surprise (!) she was on Malygos too and we started up talking again as if no time had passed. The conversation went something like "Of all the servers you could have gone to, you pick Malygos?" she had known that it was where I'd end up if I decided to go casual and just hang out with RL friends & family. During Cataclysm everything pretty much conspired to put us together. Her guild (which she wasn't an officer of) decided to come to "my" server. I was playing my druid for the most part, but when leveling my shaman (ele/resto) I kept getting enhancement gear. My guild wasn't taking off, but her guild needed an enhancement shaman so I went with them for a time. Then their guild went to 10 mans and I picked up healing on my druid (which was my goal for Cataclysm anyway). I stopped playing after we cleared Dragon Soul 10 normal, and came back a couple months before MoP.Now we've stopped stressing about the valleys of our friendship. While real life and other stuff gets in the way from time to time, anytime I/we come back to WoW it feels like it's pushing us back into each other's path. We've been practically inseparable through MoP and plan to be so for the foreseeable future.
Met a friend in wow, he was from Georgia and the war started there ...Since then I haven't heard from him :/
After I met a guy questing, I crashed because of the weather. Relog, apologize, he said he crashed too... We were of the same city and school and started to get out together... but the friendship ended when we finished the school and he stopped playing wow too :(
A few years back I was in a raiding guild and some mage had a name that was native to my language so I asked him where he was from and it turned out he was from the same country as me...And thats when it all started , we formed our own guild shortly after and had lots of fun doing raids , bgs , arenas etc We also played a lot of Diablo , League of Legends and Hearthstone and to this day we still do a lot of stuff together :)
My story is rather long (if you really can't/refuse to read it all, feel free to skip to the end for the super condensed version)but it's a good one and it is all indeed true and can be verified. Here it goes.My name is Rachel. I purchased World of Warcraft in July of 2005 as an early birthday gift for the guy I was currently dating at the time as he really wanted it. I didn't think anything of it and gave it to him as an early surprise. He immediately downloaded it and created an Orc Hunter on Kargath. After playing for awhile, he was telling me how much fun it was and how I should create a character and play. I wasn't much into the whole online gaming thing but said what the heck and created an Undead Warlock. I had no clue what I was doing yet somehow we both eventually made it to level 60. That's when things went bad. I found out he had been cheating on me but for whatever reason, I gave him one last chance. We came to an agreement when we got back together that if our relationship ended because of him cheating on me, I would get to keep the account as now I was addicted to the WowCrack. Well, shortly after, he cheated again and I found out. The relationship ended (badly) after just under a year of being together. Anyhow, I got to keep the account, we got it all put into my name and all that stuff. I continued to play occasionally and found a lovely, caring man named Brian that played a Troll Mage and was in my guild. Since I knew next to nothing about WoW (I apparently was wearing wrong gear, didn't even learn all of my spells, etc.), he helped me figure it all out and get me on the right track. Then we started talking about real life and what not and one thing led to another and we started talking on messenger and cam chatted a few times and then ended up talking on the phone for up to twelve hours a day. After a few months of doing that, he decided he wanted to come and see me (September of 2006). He lived in Eastern Washington state at the time and I lived in Central Pennsylvania. He didn't have his driver's license but that didn't stop him. He got on a three day bus ride to come and see me. I did not believe a word he said, even after he took a screenshot of the receipt of him buying the bus ticket. The day he left on the bus to come and see me, his ex girlfriend got on his Myspace and went on about how it was all a big joke and that he was sitting there with her right then and how they were getting married and all of this. I was devastated. The next day she admitted that it was all a lie. I was slightly relieved. He had no cell phone so I couldn't just call and see where he was or anything. All I could do is wait and see if he showed up. I went to the bus station on the day he was to arrive, September 13th and waited. A bus pulled up around the time his was supposed to arrive. He didn't get off. It took everything in me but I asked the driver if there was anyone else on the bus, thinking maybe he had fallen asleep or was getting all of his stuff put away (knowing he was a Type 1 diabetic since age three, I knew the three day bus ride would be hard for him). The driver said that there was no one left on the bus. He asked if I was waiting for someone and I replied yes. Tears starting to well in my eyes. He asked me where the person I was waiting for was coming from. I informed him from Washington. He asked state or DC? I replied state. He then informed me that that bus, and a couple others from that side of the country, had been delayed around St. Louis and should be arriving in a couple of hours. I was relieved. I went and got some lunch and killed some time before returning back to the bus station to wait for him to arrive, again. The bus pulled in. He got off. He was actually there! I could not believe it! Time seemed to slow as he walked towards me and hugged me. It was really special. We walked across the street and had our first kiss. It just felt right. He then stayed with me for a couple of weeks but then had to return home. I tried to plead with him to just move in with me but he couldn't. His grandfather was back in Washington (as was his father) and he wasn't doing as well as he was getting older. After trying to figure out how we were going to make our relationship work being 2500 miles apart. I then just decided that there wasn't anything all that great for me where I was living and decided I'd like to return home with him. He was ecstatic that I would do such a thing. It was probably the craziest thing I had ever done but I did it. We arrived back in Washington on October 1st. His dad was rather surprised to see me but was not all that concerned. Over time, both Brian and his father grew to love me more. His father had even told me I was like the daughter he had never had. Brian is an only child. My life improved greatly after moving to Washington. The only problem was that I had wanted to have children but Brian had been told he was sterile. I ended up having a few pet chinchillas to deal with the fact that I wouldn't be having a child for him. On December 22nd, 2010, our life changed. I took a home pregnancy test after a missed/late cycle (nothing new, happened several times over the years). However, this time, it was positive. I came out of the bathroom crying and found him in the kitchen. I couldn't even get any words out of my mouth. All I could do is hold up the test for him to see and he asked if it said yes and all I could do was nod my head. He then hugged me and started crying. I was so scared the first few months thinking that anything wrong could end this pregnancy as I had already had a miscarriage years ago. I did not want to put him through that. The pregnancy wasn't easy. I ended up having gestational diabetes as well as Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction and was on bed rest the last few months of the pregnancy. On August 11, 2011 at 5:26 PM, we gave birth to a beautiful, happy, healthy, not-so-little 8 pound 11 ounce baby girl. She was perfect. Now, 7.5 years later, Brian and I are still together and our daughter is now 3.5 years old and just as happy, intelligent and healthy as ever! We both still play WoW although not for the hours upon hours we used to in the months/years B.C. (before child). We both still mainly play our mains (Undead Lock and Troll Mage) on our original server (Kargath). Our daughter even enjoys coming and helping us fight things. :)TLDR/simplified version:Girl in bad relationship with guy and ends it. Girl meets much better guy on WoW in guild. Guy took 3 day bus ride across country from Washington to Pennsylvania in 2006. Girl and guy fell in love even more. Guy had to return home. Girl went with. Girl gets pregnant with "miracle" baby in 2010. Baby girl born in 2011. Guy, girl and daughter still living happily ever after. Girl and guy still occasionally play mains (Undead Lock/Troll Mage) on Kargath when time to do so.
1 Year ago My guild talked about making a Guild-Meeting on DH, We went there, and ever since, we've started to hang out IRL too :)
Let me tell you, i used to play pretty hardcore back in BC, and i used to be real tight with my guild, we had the same schedules and everything, which was off considering i was station oversea in japan.Time passes turn out there were station in Yokosuka, a base a few hours up the road in japan. It was pretty sweet.
About two years ago I was heavy into playing wow since my wife and I had separated. I played daily for hours. Got into a guild which I met some great people. After a year while traveling on the road, I was able to meet a couple who traveled up from California to the Southern Oregon coast. It was great to meet them in person since we had talked a lot in Ventrilo while playing the game. We still keep in touch to this day. :)
Years ago back in Vanilla WoW I met an extremely cool guy named Carebear. He and I did arena , skyped, met in person and drank together in real life. I'm not quite sure what to make of him except that he's a really good friend and we still talk to this day.
I'd like to mention that I'm a girl. Things may sound misleading without knowing that. :)When I joined my first raiding guild, I soon became friends with a lot of the people. I got along especially well with our Main Tank and we started to skype. After a few months, while I was on my trip through Europe anyway, I stayed with him for a week. After a few more months of skype and him staying at my place for a while, we became a couple. It lasted for a year and a bit. We visited each other a few more times. Nowadays we're still in the same guild and raid together. It was crazy :) and it still is.
Not really sure I would want to meet some of the people I run into. I do know someone who plays and he kind of got me into the game. One of my guild mates is someone I do not think I would want to meet in real life she seems a little too unstable on chat.
