I don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm going to take this gift and have great fun with it, I think it's a good thing /shrug.Edit: I want to go on the record saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with new people "n00bing" it up with fresh lvl90 toons either. If you help new players instead of condemn and ridicule them you'd be amazed at how grateful (and generous) they can be towards you later on in the game. New players, regardless of skill, are great because they put back fresh enthusiasm into that game which vets tend to lack. This is a good draw card for new players and I say bring it, I look forward seeing new players out there.
Why don't you just give the players full HC gear also? since you gave them everything else.
Since it sounds like they're definitely going to do the pay to upgrade to 90, I would prefer if Blizz made it so there's a certain requirement to buy extra level 90s. For example, give the first one free to all as planned, but make it so you have to have at least two (or maybe even more) level 90s to pay for more. I say at least 2 because that means one of them at least had to be leveled in some way other than instant boost.
This could be bad because new players who havent played wow before will ding to 90, and have that short trip to max level, where they will then proceed to terrorise LFR all like "hurr hurr durr, imma blizzard all the things" I get that part will get annoying for the more seasoned players. But i think on the other hand it is a good thing for the players who have been playing since vanilla and really dont want to go through the marathon that is levelling to 90-100, when they just wanted to create a new class to get into raiding. These players will typically research the class to best play it in a fashion that helps their guild and raid. To say it is a money grabbing situation is unclear, but that depends on whether the cost to buy the level 90 toon would be the same cost for the game time required to grind out the levels normally. If it is, then it isnt really paying extra, you are just paying for the game time up front.
Just note, you aren't getting profession bump (IE leveling them to 600) unless you boost a 60+ toonI have seen some people do some crazy stuff with Recruit a friend, cashing in some sort of level perk things so that they make a new toon and skip like 50 levels.I don't see this as being any worse than that, nor do I see it as a problem, will I boost?Possibly, just depends on how much id want to make say a mage, or something. Right now I'm good with my monk, no need to boost, he's already 90 with better gear than the starter stuff
because leveling professions now, is more trouble than it's worth. you ever tried farming for Fel Ore? Or Cobalt? How about Outland Herbs? they're next to non-existent on some servers, and even in their AH's, they're not there...or they are, but they cost almost as much as the Sky Golem mount itself.and besides, you NEED to be at LEAST lvl 60, to get the profession boost...not like you start at lvl 1, get an instant boost to lvl 90, professions are maxed instantly at 600 points each...and if you don't like it, DON'T use it...no one's FORCING you to do this.
People say "more noobs will have characters they don't know how to play because they level their toon with the click of the button." True, new players will be able to do it, but if people are already familiar to WoW and they do this, and they've played the game already, and they insta-level a character to 90 and STILL don't know how to play WoW, I don't think that's the "level a character" button's fault. Some people are just really bad at the game. REALLY bad. A button's not going to make that any different. There are just simply a lot of stupid players.I, for one, am tired of leveling alts. I know how WoW works. I can look up guides. I can read. I can learn quickly. It doesn't instantly make me "stupider" to level the toon to 90. It not like me or anyone with a brain would insta-level it and then hop into a dungeon immediately, and anyone who does, is, again, just a bad player, and leveling from 1 to 90 wouldn't change that much.As for the argument that it's "Cheating"... come on, you know that's wrong. I've done my leveling grind. Over and over again. I know what abilities some classes use and which ones they don't. I don't need to go through the grind. If I could change the feature, I'd say make it so you have to have at least one max level character first, because I really think it's meant for people's alts and friends. Every time WoW releases a Blizz store mount, everyone complains that people can spend money on their mount collections. If you're not a mount collector, why do you give a crap? If that's how they want to spend their money, that's how they'll spend it. If you're not into leveling immediately, don't do it. RAF and level with a friend. You don't have to do everything Blizzard tells you just because it's there.Just because Blizzard says "you have the option to spend money on this" doesn't mean you HAVE to spend money on it. Even if it's free, it's optional. Play the game how you want to. I doubt anyone would look down on you for it. I, for one, don't want to level another character all the way when I already know how to play the damn game.I think people just like to have something to complain about.
If people want to spend more money to bump toons to 90, who cares, they still have to actually lvl to 100. If they want to spend money for something that does not take any real talent, why not. I know a lot of people who lvl'd toons to 90 who can't play worth a damn.
I did find out today that Ghost Iron can be mined with ANY level of mining... Which is something I actually didn't know. I for one and EXTREMELY happy about that, I just wish they would do something like that for all the professions, cuz seriously thats the crappiest part. Leveling a toon is NOT hard, though it can be mind numbing, leveling a profession just SUCKS.But I do it, and have done it for years, If I make a mage, from lvl 1-90 i'd certainly love to be able to equally power level a profession, but I actually DONT want to be able to get a max level profession from lvl 1, it just feels slightly slimy to me. I can't explain it, id rather actually interact, to level that profession, than to just be handed something new.My ex handed her laptop to me one night (back in BC) she was going to bed and wanted me to finish healing a guild group run of Mana Tombs (heroic). I figured well shoot, I have a lvl 22 priest, her lvl 70 priest can't be that much different, right?Except it was, plus her add ons, and her button layouts...lolTL;DRI forgot my point?
TBH, It might just be easier to powerrush to 60, and use the boost to 90 than boost to 90 and then grind professions. And even more fun, imho.
If you they level you up 100% than they take the leveling fun of draenor. pretty obvious.
I WELCOME the boosting of Professions ! one of the annoying things i had with a DK was the fact id had to go back to lower level zones to just level my professions therefore i found it redundant to start them at 55As for instant level 90's, so what? it makes completely no difference to me, having played wow for almost 8 years, i HATE leveling. people QQing are still going to use the service.
Come on guys, really. Bottom Line: The game is a mainstream MMO that has a large casual player base. There are two tiers of players in the game - your average casual-esqe player who presses a button to hit 90 (pay to win), does the new quests, does LFR (and is likely carried by 8 to 10-ish people there to Valor cap), and some flex, and is happy with their casual experience and ilvl 540 (546) gear. Hell even legendary mats drop in LFR. Nothing wrong with that, but not really progression. In the literal sense, yes, in the WoW sense, no. Then there are the actual progression type folks who start on Normal Mode and progress through the content, maybe run some flex for practice, and if you're really elite you clear Heroic pretty fast, if not so elite you still spend the time and get there. For those that are farming heroic, there are still Meta achievements to go for (oh wait, they nerfed these too, nevermind), and there's always alt runs and wow progress type sites to compete on.Overall, I'd say they try to appeal to casual players more than hardcore/progression players. There are now what, 6 tiers of raid gear so that part-time gamers can "experience" the content? Now you can just press a button to level to 90? There is so much more to WoW than end game. New players should experience the 90% of the game they will miss by getting to 90 right away. The new content is only new to existing players. If you are new, all of the content is new content because, you've never played it before. If their friends are 90s and they are new and want to join them, then they have a reason to learn their class and plow through the levels. Not just press a button and I'm 90. And come on, leveling is pretty faceroll in WoW already. They really don't need to put this ability in. Players should pay their dues to play end game content.
