As someone who actually remembers being new to this game, I should point out that, to a new player, ALL of the content is new. In fact, if I ever get around to doing areas like Blade's Edge Mountains and Zul'drak, they will be "newer" to me than the Timeless Isle. Ergo, this "new players need the boost so they can see new content" thing is a load of crap.
so you're telling me becoming a pay to win game is a good thing?
How exactly is this going to hurt people? Are you not all in guilds that run 5 mans or raids? Are these people really going to bother you that much that your game play in your guild is going to suffer? Why do you really care how someone else spends their time or money without seeing this in action? Right now, it's all speculation and all you can do is guess at how it's going to effect you when in reality, this may not effect you at all. I've got 7 lvl 90's right now and have done a majority of the quest in MoP. I for one, am looking forward to being able to skip 90 lvl's in order to move on to the last 10 lvl's that I will prob end up doing over and over and over again anyway. The noobs? Who really gives a s**t? It's not going to bother me because I'll be doing what a majority of people will be doing, running with guild mates. Realistically, this whole thread is pointless about this. If you don't like it quit, move on, go play some other game, I'm not going to miss you.
Why is there such a rush to get to top level, new or old players should have to work too it, you don't start a new job and say i'll have a boost to manager please lol.Time and time again the original parts of the game are becoming obsolete, for example when was the last time someone stayed at level 85 long enough to do LFR Deathwing and Wyrmrest Temple raids before hitting level 86.It's about time all areas off questing was made to be done before other parts of the game are opened up and without completing these certain areas of the game are unavailable, take away experience points from dungeons, raids and battlegrounds but up the level of reward for items/equipment.Also why do they have the need after a few patches to keep ruining areas and changing them so book contents are wrong and website contents need updating.
i hope they are testing it to bring something similar back with the Reaper of Souls D3 exp. Im hoping there will be some kind of Annual Pass again and those in it will be able to get a similar mount that will be datamined soon :)
You pay your money every month or so to play how you like other people have the same right.. Blizzard offers plenty of services that you can or can choose not to take advantage of. How do you know that some of these "new" players aren't vets returning who may have given away, sold, or lost their old accounts? Lots of people in my guild have classes they've always wanted to play and are waiting for xpac to hit 90 instantly. Bottom line is its a service and just because you wouldn't use it doesn't give you the right to talk down about those who would. Its a choice based on an opinion and like my grandmother always used to tell us "Everything in this world is a matter of opinion baby, and yours doesn't" aka people are going to do what they want if they want and have the means like it or not. What can YOU do about it?
I wonder how many people will be like me, and forego the lvl90 bonus. I am almost at my 5th 90, have another at 70 and another at 50. Then theres the 15 others that are waiting to be levelled that won't be using the bonus. Yes I get bored with doing the same old quests time and time again, because I only have one toon my main, that does dungeons and raids, but I'm still of the philosiphy of doing my own work. My guild is not called Achievments R Us for nothing so no I won't be using the level boost. But I say good luck to those that do use it.
Background: Played since VanillaHave 7 90s - 6 horde, 1 alliance.Only since MoP have I had more than 2 characters at max levelI know how to really play 1 of them, my main priest, the others are farmers and I am terrible at their classes as shown by my dps/healing in various dungeons/raids that I have tried. (I could learn, like I learned my priest, but I have tons of stuff yet to do on my priest, so I don't bother)My Opinion: Adding in Heirlooms and LFD have made leveling a complete breeze. There is no real need to pay for more level 90s. ONE free 90? totally cool with that. What an AWESOME idea to get new/retired players in the game ready to level immediately with their friends. Adding in a tutorial scenario (skippable for returning players I hope!) to quickly get people up to speed is great! The gameplay difference between leveling and max level play means everyone is more or less relearning their class at 100 anyway, so that doesn't bother me... for ONE 90. I know there are plenty that disagree, but I feel that paying for multiple 90s = pay to win and that doesn't belong in a subscription MMO. No it's not free gear, it's free levels. And levels = power. Just ask any level 87 dueling a 90. So in essence, you are paying for power. It's a money grab and I HATE it. You want an alt to farm ass flowers and bear iron for you? level it up. You want to try a new alt in raiding? level it up. With heirlooms you'll be 90 in about 10 days of focused play. Probably less if you have any of the xp buffs from places like the Darkmoon Fair or Hallow's End.It comes down to the fact that whichever side of the argument you are on, it's just opinion. But mine is firmly on the side that paying for multiple 90s = pay to win and it's a bad direction for the game.
Well, if you want to use the incorrect definition and call it Pay to Win if you can pay for power (like level 90, or RAF to level faster, or whatever) then so be it.BTW: You're not Solaru from the WoW forums, are you?
im not so upset with the lvl boost as I am with the craft boost aspect of this.. it is going to greatly skew markets and just invite more RMT to the game... So for all of us crafters that went out and had to farm items to get past certain points and actually play the game are getting a big slap in the face now... All of a sudden them items you craft that are your bread and butter are now worthless cause 50 pay to win crafters are now flooding the markets and driving prices to the point of total loss...
