Making gold without MoP

Just wondering what the best way to make gold is without MoP? Currently I've resorted to getting gear drops from dungeons and questing. Are there any professions which can earn you gold without getting above 525 (which I think I'm right in saying isn't possible without MoP)?

Gathering professions, Herbs, Leather and Ore are always in demand.
Play the AH
If you have some gold to invest I'd suggest getting used to the Undermine Journal, depending on your realm you can make a lot of gold there in a very short space of time.

Well, mining low level ores like Fel Ore, Gold Ore, etc can be very profitable...

Besides gathering professions (which can be super profitable at lower levels), knowing what items are good for twinks will also help. Wrath gems, certain enchantments, certain armor kits, etc. tend to sell well. Also, people will still buy pets/mounts/vanity items from previous expacs for a decent amount. Also, bags tend to get exponentially more expensive each expac, so someone who needs quick bags for an alt are more likely to buy netherweave or frostweave than to invest in royal satchels.
Most old content money I make comes from drops rather than professions, though. Cloth, transmog, pets, old recipes, and the like from level 60 and 70 raids can bring in a good amount of gold as well.

The bag thing seems a bit weird to me. For example, I saw frostweave bags going for something like 300g or more, if I remember rightly (maybe it was 150g, but it wasn't less than that I don't think), but 1g 50s can buy a 16 slot bag from the SW quartermaster at revered, which makes the first price seem ridiculous.

What about new content?

Do daily quests; you can get gold fairly quickly that way as well.

A) You can only have a maximum of 1 of those SW bags on a character, and only when that toon is revered, so it does nothing for people looking for full bags on an alt right off the bat. And even once you have earned the rep to buy one form each race, you still need to fill out the rest of your bank bag slots with something crafted. And that's if all you need are 16-slot bags.
Many veteran players have a shortage of storage space. Someone who Heals/DPS's, and also does PvP, could have 3-4 sets of gear in their bags in addition to their normal allotment of food, flasks, potions, tools, vanity items, etc. People save vanity items, transmog items for multiple sets of gear, heirlooms, crafting mats, tabards, etc. and a lot have enough to fill void storage and then some. Frostweave bags are 20 slots, and across four bagslots, and however many bank bag slots there are, four extra slots each is a lot of storage space. As you go up, the price per extra slot of storage goes up.
And for most players at max level, 300g isn't very much.
B) New content is MoP. If you do not have MoP, then by definition you do not have access to new content.

On my server, because people are lazy, herbalists are able to make a lot of money by selling low level herbs for very high prices. Same with gems and ore.
Another way you can make money is by selling pets. Don't know how well you manage at your level, but, for example, if you're at a point where you can solo molten core, kara, etc, you can sell the pets that sometimes drop from bosses there for a lot of money.

@ElhonnaDS thanks for the info. Just to say, I was aware of

Thanks all.

Cobalt Ore
Fel Iron Ore
Various TBC, Wrath, and Cata cloths
LvL 84 twink gear, gems, and enchants
Why level 84 twink gear rather than 85?

Because BGs are from 80-84 then 85-90.
With 84 being the highest in that bracket it's quite valuable.
So you mean to say level 80's and level 84's fight in the same battles? I'd been told or at least it had been suggested to me that people are only teamed up with others of the same level, or that they are rendered the same level even if they aren't. I have been confused about this because I've noticed that whilst the levels shown on players' icons at the top of my display indeed show different levels in the same bgs, the level shown for them on the icon at the bottom right is always the same: it's always the top level for the bracket. Is this is a bug, or do all players experience this (and if the latter is true, why?)
I actually just researched this question and found an interesting article on scaling:
This was for patch 5.2. I don't know what the current situation is, but it seems this may explain why I've found it to be pretty much toon suicide to go into a bg at level 85, amongst other things.
