There may be a blue post on here but I didn't see it. Please feel free to link if the post contains the reasoning behind the decision. Why was The Keymaster achievement not made into a Feat of Strength?

Blizzard
We added a Feat for Exalted Shen’dralar rep in 4.1. We’re unlikely to add a Keymaster feat.
We added the Keymaster achievement and then almost immediately decided to deemphasize the existence of keys in the game, and thus removed the achievement. Unfortunately it probably isn't even possible to track who had the older keys now.

Thanks .. I don't think it explains why the couldn't make it a FoS but at least it does address the fact that they didn't.

Also it was never really a feat of strength, People in guilds generally allocated keys to the most reliable members who were basically always officers.
There is no feat in being allocated an object just because you can show up to a raid each week.
Thankfully they removed requiring keys.

Allocated? Makes it sound like someone gave them away. I went out specifically to earn those keys for myself though I never raided so didn't have an actual use for them. It thrilled me that they added the title and cheeze and killed my soul a bit when they quickly took it away.

I never raided in Vanilla and still had the achievement when WotLK hit (or shortly after, can't say for sure) so I can't see the reason for the outright removal either. The same could be said for
The Fifth Element
(I forgot to get the Quintessence in time, d'oh)
It was never a title, though.

You used to need a key to open Scholomance, Used to need a key to open the back gate to Stratholme, Needed a key to open two of the instances in Scarlet Monestary, needed a key to go to the violet hold. and so on and so forth. They weren't "allocated" by raid leaders.
Some later ones were raid related, Karazhan, Black Temple, Serpentshrine Cavern ect...
Getting "keyed" felt good. You had earned the right to be in the place u unlocked now... I miss it, personally. Then again, I was a keymaster.

I think we were on a different page, I thought you meant keys such as
Key to the Focusing Iris
Which indeed was a blessing once they removed those type of key requirements. (Things like this explained why EoE wasn't run much compared to other raids)
I think the achievement you mention was removed simply because they wanted to make the game a little more accessible.
As has been the trend since.
