If you are playing on an RP server, that name may have been reported as it really does not contribute to the role playing environment on those types of servers.
You can report those names on RP servers till you are blue in the face, they will never be changed. In the past I've reported names containing sexual innuendo ranging from rape over bestiality to pedophilia with no action taken by Blizzard whatsoever.
In my opinion, it is important to keep reporting those players that are using names that are violations of
Blizzard's Naming Policy. It's one of those situations, that unless members of the community bring these names to the attention of Blizzard, the likelihood of them ever being changed is so small, (almost nil) since there is not enough manpower at Blizzard to review all of the millions of names that are out there. Considering that there are about 7.6 million current subscribers, and if each subscriber has an average of 3 alts (this is a guess, I have no clue how many alts the average subscriber has), that would be over 21 million names!
I did a bit of searching on the Blizzard forums and I did not find any information as to why those reports of names that blatantly disregard the Blizzard Naming Policy are not being handled in a more professional manner by Blizzard.
However, I did find some information about the reporting of names that do not "fit into" the RP environment. from Vrakthris on the
Official Forums:
Ok, maybe 'nothing' is a bit to strong of a word. But I see the same people with the exact same spelling over and over and over with reports being made and it -seems- like nothing is being done.
As someone who plays almost exclusively on RP realms, here and in every MMO I've played, I can understand the perception, Dinthoqaf. Especially when you see names that you believe to be contrary to the RP policies still around.
Please keep in mind that what RP means may be something different to you than it is to others on the realm. Some enjoy light RP and would be fine with certain names that you might think of as non-rp. Others names you might feel are within the bounds of the genre that someone with a far more stringent RP style and ideals of what RP is may feel to go against it.
We have to take into consideration all levels of RP, so that we can remove those names that are almost universally accepted as going against the genre without impacting otherwise entirely legitimate names.
To that end if you report a name, using the right click report feature, that report is taken into consideration in the overall investigation. Though it may not be changed immediately or at all, depending.
There is a social aspect when it comes to what names may or may not be permitted on a realm, especially when it comes to RP names. Your "vote", as it were, is noted and used in an overall determination but keep in mind that names that we feel do not go against policy are unlikely to be changed regardless of how many people report it. We will continue to evaluate those names when the reports are received, but the final decision is at our discretion and may not coincide with the ideals of all.
