Hi all,
Over the course of the last several days I've come across more reports than usual from players who are locked out of accounts when they've updated the OS of their phone, or have updated the authenticator without first saving the serial number and the restore code.
If you currently use the mobile authenticator, please make sure you screenshot the serial number and the restore codes - to get those, click on Menu > Setup > Continue. It is there on that screen that you'll find both codes.
Additionally, we recommend use of the SMS Protect which allows you to verify the account and regain access even if the authenticator is desynced.
If anyone ever needs to get in touch with us directly to have either of those removed, please let us know through our
support portal
. We'll be happy to assist!
Happy adventuring!

Do you think you'll ever add SMS protection for prepaid phones? My phone isn't prepaid, but (I assume) because of how the company I go through works your system sees it as prepaid.

Hi BigH, it's a good question - but as I understand it, part of the reason we may not do that is because requiring a phone with a contract increases the integrity of that security method. Otherwise, it would be fairly easy to set that up by an exploitive party, which could cause a whole host of other issues. As ever, it's possible that even this may change as things go along. You're welcome to reach out to us through our
support portal
if you'd ever like an update :)
As to why your particular phone may be reading as a prepaid when it's not, that may be something to check with your phone company about. Otherwise, I'd say make a ticket with the model number/type of phone and submit that to us. You could update the thread here with a ticket ID# and I would try to make sure that goes to the appropriate team, to get more information about that.

It's just a standard HTC Android phone, no proprietary network software, so I doubt it's the phone itself. I'm almost positive that it's because of my carrier; either how they run their billing (which is a little different) or because of how they're classified in the system of the nationwide carrier they lease towers from. Either way, that's the answer I was expecting, so no worries :)
What about things like Google Voice? Are those blocked for the same reason pre-paids are?

I see, and yes - I believe that any phone number not associated with a contract may not be able to be used. You could try it, but I don't think that it would work for SMS Protect, sorry to say.
