Name suffixes - how to get rid of them?

Hi,
I cant see to find where in the interface options I can get rid of peoples titles within chat and elsewhere. At least I assume that they are titles? I'm talking about stuff like "Lightbringer", "Anachronos" or "Steemwheedle Cartel" that are suffixed after the name in chat. I can see how to remove titles in the main window but I'd like to get rid of them within the chat box as it makes the names in their a little crowded when the chat starts scrolling in raids etc.
Any ideas what I'm missing?
Cheers

That is the server they are from. I guess you are LFR or LFD when you see this. There is no way to remove that.

I think what you are seeing is the players realm names (Part of the Cross Realm Zones). Don't think there is a way to get rid of that since it used to make the players name unique since another player from another realm could show up in the zone your playing in.

Ah I see, that will be it. Cheers for that.

You can change it so you don't see their name all together though. Is that what you're wondering?

It's the chat box and recount Windows that I was meaning, so I'd need to see names. It looks like it's servers, which I'd not realised, so it makes sense now.

Yes, it is indeed servers tacked onto the end of names that you are seeing, assuming we are talking about chat, Recount, Skada, Omen, etc.
"Myrroddin - Llane" is what you see if we are cross-realm; "Myrroddin" if both characters are from the realm "Llane". Some of the AddOns you are using may have a setting to disable the realm suffix from being visible, yet their internal logic will keep the units straight.
What I mean is "Myrroddin - Llane" and "Myrroddin" might be the same unitID, but "Myrroddin - Lightbringer" and "Myrroddin" might not be. Worse, "Myrroddin" and "Myrroddin" might not have the same unitIDs.
Confused? Let's say "Myrroddin - Llane" is the sixteenth unit in a raid group, or "raid16", and "Myrroddin - Lightbringer" is "raid20". That means that no matter how many "Myrroddin"s there are in the raid, I will always be raid16, and the guy who is from Lightbringer has a different unitID. It is up to AddOn authors to translate the name from unitID, but they should be tracking unitIDs not names, and only displaying the name at the end.
It gets tricky when you want to give the user class colors for names, but not impossible. The author has to strip the realm suffix before displaying the name.
I suggest asking on their respective project pages, forums, or bug trackers to see if the AddOns you are using have a setting to disable the realm suffixes.

Oh, and to answer your first question directly: it is possible to strip out the realm name suffixes, but I can't think of an AddOn (since there is no in game setting that I remember) that performs this function and only this function.

Cripes, more to it than I realised! Cheers for the help anyway.
