There was a suggestion for it back in 2010, which had some interest.
Will we see a WYSIWYG editor any time soon? It would make guides hell of a lot easier to make/edit >.<

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the guides offer a similar feature already?
The bottom of the guide edit page updates as you change the code.

Yes the preview works fine as anyone would expect, but WYSIWYG editors are a lot more efficient and easier to use, which I believe a lot of us guide writers would love to see implemented, especially the creators of some of the more extensive/complex guides.
At the moment scrolling through walls of text of code is annoying, and makes it difficult to find exactly where I want to add/edit/remove parts of my guide, as well as scrolling down to the preview section constantly every few moments.
With what should be a 5 minute edit to my guide took me around 20 minutes.
Obviously I can make-do with what I got, and so can everyone else, but I believe having a WYSIWYG editor will, in the long run, be better for guide writers, and may even attract people users to contribute to the guide section, because of the simplicity the WYSIWYG offers users.
In a nutshell, a WYSIWYG editor is like having Microsoft Word embedded instead of the current editor.

Okay I appreciate the information, I'm not personally experienced with WYSIWYG, I just knew of the basic concept.

Just so it doesn't stand alone.
I detest WYSIWYG editors, I have yet to find one (especially online based) that actually gives the amount of control that we currently have by adding in the codes.
As for scrolling in the text, its a matter of (IMO) being smart about what you do when you make it, and then when you need to edit something, you just scroll to the general area before looking at the code specifically. (There is also always the option to copy/paste the entire code into a texteditor like notepad and search for what you wanted to find.)
Also, I would protest the definition "its like having microsoft word installed" - while that would be true for purely text editing, hyperlinking etc is not something you want to use word for.
I have edited enough pages originally done in word or other wysiwyg editors to know how much trash coede a wysiwyg editor throws in - everytime you move something the editor makes a guesss at what you wanted to do codewise, and adds that, then you move it somewhere else and the old code stays put even though it encapsulates nothing, OR the editor adds some more code that - together with the old code - simulates what you wanted to change it to - when next you add in something there, or change it, the old code interferes because the current code isn't doing what you would think it does.
In short, please do NOT change the editors to WYSIWYG - the current compromise with a live preview is very efficient.

Those are all simple features you can add in to WYSIWYG editors.
I've never used a WYISWYG editor that puts in trash code... you must have used some pretty terrible editors...
Also people who don't want to use WYISWYG editors, can simply switch from WYISWYG to Source Code. That is a feature ive seen in every wysiwyg editor ive used.
gives the amount of control that we currently have by adding in the codes.
Also, i have no idea what you're talking about...
