Are they discontinuing Darkmoon Faire?

I've been looking ahead at the in-game calendar on World of Warcraft, and right now it goes all the way through March 2014. The calendar shows all the features that are taking place on WoW through that time. Especially the fishing event every Sunday like clockwork.
There is one exception:
The Darkmoon Faire
After the Darkmoon Faire of August 2013 the event ends and does not appear on the calendar at all anymore from September 2013 through March.
I'm pretty new to WoW, started playing the game in October and already have a level 90 hunter, lvl 60 DK, and a level 41 Pandaren Enhancement/Elemental Shaman. I grew up with state fairs and carnivals and so Darkmoon Faire is an enjoyable little extra in the game. I am glad it is a monthy feature so it doesn't become too stable, yet it's possible to save up and score tickets each time to get BOA gear, mounts, pets, and other cool stuff. I would be sad to see it go, but it seems this is the case.
I tried posting this question on Battle.net as well as trying to see what I could find on the internet about why this is being taken off the Calendar starting in September but can find nothing about it.
Some people claim "well they just didn't put it there" while neglecting to notice every other holiday and special event that is part of the WoW experience is listed, MINUS the Darkmoon Faire.
I've been trying to find out what's going on with this feature but finding no substantive answers. My conversation with a GM in game after discussing a ticket issue I was having, when I asked about this, the Blizz employee could not confirm the Darkmoon Faire is going to continue after September, and also could not give a reason why it is being stopped. they did not try to even say "We we just didn't put it on the calendar yet" - the assumption most people seem to make about this issue. So it sounds like the event is really going to end for good in August.
So the question is:
WHY is the Darkmoon Faire being removed from the calendar? Is it being discontinued? IF so, why?
I wish there was a way for fans of this feature to let Blizzard know NOT to take it away.

they might be making a new darkmoon faire graphic and don't want to spoil it?

The Faire won't be going anywhere, personally I'd put it not being on the calendar down to 2 reasons.
1. A simple oversight on behalf of the graphics guys, which has happened before (I think some events were missing prior to both Cata and MoP which they fixed.)
or
2. A patch with additions/revamps, we already know an heirloom shield is due to be added, and I am sure more wild pets from Darkmoon island.
It's worth bearing in mind that Sept will be the 1 year since MoP launched, and they did actually have to do some juggling with events such as brewfest to give players enough time to reach level for the holiday boss, so maybe it just hasn't been added since last year.
Silence from a GM isn't a bad thing, no answers usually means they either simply don't know (more often than not this is the case) or that something is planned and they cannot say.
Well, with all due respect, the fact is I don't know too many people besides me who are really into DM Faire at least in my own "circles" I run with. I'm grinding on it this week on 4 toons to get the tickets to get what I can. I figure I have until August to clean it out for BOA and other "goodies" before it is no longer possible in September. But it's possible I'm part of a small minority of people who actually use the feature? Just the feedback I did get when I asked didn't put my mind at ease about the event continuing beyond August. So I'm reaching the safe conclusion: No.

Also note: the Mayan calander ended at 2012... must mean the world is ending. =P
I wouldn't worry about the DMF disappearing just because its missing from future calendar dates. Most likely an oversight + what everyone else already said above.

This.
It's a glitch on your end OP.

Reasons why it won't be cancelled.
Monthly profession quests
Monthly PvP Quests
Darkmoon Rabbit boss
Fishing pools still an invaluable source of high end mats
Darkmoon Deathmatch
Heirloom vendor (Yes there are other sources but the DMF is by far the easiest souce of looms)
Exclusive vanity pets
Vanity armour (old school) items
I know bunches of people who still use the faire for various reasons.
I'm one of 'em. Under the circumstances I'm going to be grinding on the next few faires to get BOA and all the other stuff I want out of there.
The rabbit's not a reason- because it's never in the cave to kill! (Does it only spawn one time during the whole Faire or something? I would love the achieve!)
Well so far you seem to have the best replies. Most others are assumptions, etc. and are already saying what I SAID people say. I'm looking at the calendar and trying to figure out where Blizz is going with this. A friend of mine said that they stop DM Faire for awhile prior to the launch of a major xpac, but the problem there is that we just had Pandaria come out. The most likely thing I would expect is not the release of another xpac so soon, but perhaps Blizz announcing when then next xpac is coming out?
I do know that since Garrosh Hellscream is the final boss of the Pandaria xpac it's going to change the game to an exent. Maybe Garrosh gets depressed after getting kicked out as leader of the Horde, gets plastered off the Darkmoon Special Reserve (which I love cuz it makes your toon "hurl" after only 3 servings! lol!) breaks the mounts on the merry-go-round, and blows up the corn dog stand at DM Faire so they gotta shut it down while they change it? Who knows? I've been wondering too if they took it off in preparation for the next patch after 5.2? I'm sure we'll be seeing 5.3 somewhere around there. This is also getting closer to BlizzCon.
So it could be a good thing too why they got DM Faire off the calendar for awhile. But either way, nothing solid out there as far as info goes.
I mean if we're looking at 5.3 or something at that point and they're changing a bunch of things around, to me that's all I need to know. I'm starting to wonder if this may be the case? Or could they really just be pulling the plug on the Faire?
At least I can look forward to brewfest and go after all those achieves. :-)

Maybe the OP will see it now.
It is showing up on their calendars, it must be something wrong with yours for it to not show up.

doesn't move from my calendar until September.
I've even uninstalled and reloaded my entire game client (for another technical reason, not related to this) and it's still the same.
So.. can't be a technical issue. At least not anything from my system since I have a new, clean install of WoW.
We'll see what happens tomorrow. (when 5.2 hits)

I doubt they're discontinuing it--it takes a lot of resources to do a huge revamp like they did in Patch 4.3, and they deliberately put vanity items in players had been clamoring for a while, such as Tier 0 and .5 sets, sandbox tigers, etc. There's a lot of unused pavilions so I think they'll keep adding things every few patches there.

When you uninstall I don't think the client side (Your side) files are deleted completely, so a clean install would not necessarily fix the issue.
Try deleting Cache and WTF folders.
I have checked my calendar and it's fine (I have 2 accounts on different computers, both are fine)
So I have to conclude it is a technical issue on your side.
All of the original files were removed with the clean install, it doesn't change the fact that DM Faire doesn't appear on the calendar any more past August 2013. That's a Blizzard issue.
Corrupt files on my end would wipe out a lot more than just a particular item on the calendar. Try again.
I also doubt people are really looking at Sept-March 2014- just because it's on the calendar now doesn't mean it is then. Most responses to me indicate people are not reading what I'm saying with full comprehension or they're just not paying attention to details.

haha... that was my first thought too. It was probably something as simple as when they originally added the event, they added 12 months.. or 20 months... or maybe some guy just did enough to get way ahead and stopped for no reason other than he was told to do something else.

Whatever you may think about my viewpoint, my viewpoint, right or wrong, is based solely upon an observation of material evidence - i.e. the calendar and what it shows or does not show. I am questioning what I seem to be observing. Until the calendar in WoW shows me something other than it does, or unless I see something posted that substantively explains what I'm observing (preferably from Blizz itself), I have no reason to change what I think. Most people are responding with generalized assumptions. What is your basis?
I doubt they're discontinuing it--it takes a lot of resources to do a huge revamp like they did in Patch 4.3, and they deliberately put vanity items in players had been clamoring for a while, such as Tier 0 and .5 sets, sandbox tigers, etc. There's a lot of unused pavilions so I think they'll keep adding things every few patches there.
I had been wondering about a lot of that myself. What are they going to do with those empty exhibits, etc., if anything? BTW - you have one of the best replys I've seen so far. :-)
Likewise I'm not saying they
are
DCing DM Faire, I don't know either. Which is why I'm putting the question out. That's *a* possible explanation as to why it's not appearing.
I keep wondering if 5.3 is due out around that time. My observation so far since I started playing this is a new patch about every 5-6 months. So... August/Sept would put us about due when many have acclimated to the 5.2 patch.
Personally I hope they do a DM "Beer Tent" or something with some fun dailies. Especially with the Pandaren expansion being so heavily related to brewing, etc. Perhaps they could tie it in with something you get out of Stormstout Brewery or something like that? Who knows. lol!

Events do not 'disappear' from WoW unless there is a very very good reason, such as pre-expansion events which obviously end when the expansion is launched, or the Northrend Fishing Tourney because of the multitude of problems caused by CRZ (although with some fixes it could possibly return in future - maybe).
I say this with considerably more than 6 months under my belt. We aren't being dismissive of you as a new player per se, but of your reluctance to accept our opinions based on
years
of experience both with WoW and Blizzard.
Edit: Rarely does Blizzard give any clues about the timing of additions or removals. Their motto, afterall, is Soon(tm). They would never post something to the ingame calendar before it was actually launched nor would they remove something from the ingame calendar before it was actually removed.
They also never ever ever confirm or deny their future plans. Ever.

Hey, I'm not out to be disagreeable or whatever, and while I may be new to the game, I've seen a lot of things come and go over the years. I just happen to like this feature of the game and think it would be a shame to see it go. From what I've seen, it seems there is still a great deal of potential with that feature. I mentioned a "beer tent" run by Pandaren for example. If there is a future for DM Faire I'm sure Blizzard's Dev team has more ideas than anyone can know of. (that's an assumption on my part! Hey they could get their ideas from a cracker jack box for all we know, right? I don't work at Blizzard so...)
What I was not accepting of was what to me were vague and generalized, "dismissal" type answers (or so it seemed to me). The ones who seemed to put more thought into their answers, and who sounded as if they were actually reading what I wrote before answering were the ones I took note of. I listen to people when I think they're listening to me. It's really that simple. Not trying to be smug or anything. Just that some answers just struck me as plain assumptions, etc. After all, I don't know anyone here, you don't know me. So it's hard to see where people are coming from sometimes. So I apologize if I seem overly disagreeable. Just looking for solid answers about this and it's hard to find them. (Hey, I searched all over Google about this before I posted my message.)
For what it's worth if they do that the feature away there's nothing anyone's gonna do about it anyway right? (Or another feature for that matter.)
Like my "Marked for Death" Glyph as a hunter- because they're taking that glyph away and the apparent function with it, I'm back to pre-level 25 manual application of "Hunter's Mark" now if I want to use the feature. Can't do anything about it except hope they give hunters better options in a future patch. (Maybe if enough hunters complain they'll give us the glyph back or make it an automatic function or something....)
But I do notice that- they'll add things or take 'em away and it's like "Oh, by the way players..."
:-)
