I'd just roll with the shadowcraft to be honest, unless you have lots of Justice/darkmoon/argent's seals that you don't have anything else to spend on. It won't make a difference to levelling until level50 and even then, I'd say it's worth using the leather for the xp boost.
The same goes if you want to level a shammy on the cheap.

Lol, I have a level 87 Hunter who is
still
using leather heirlooms.
Hey, I can pull 16k DPS single target, and I'm still killing stuff before I run out of Focus, and can easily take 3 mobs at the same time... So it's still worth it for all the extra EXP. Even if I DO get some odd looks in instances.
People rarely complain about bad gear, if you're already doing better than them, when using extremely bad equipment.

Erm I'm pretty sure that the XP bonus only lasts until 80, or 85 with the stuff added in cata. Prolly a good idea to swap 'em out.

See this is a case of not reading your stuff; the EXP bonus for the 1-80 cut out at 80, and the 1-85 stops working at level 85.

Damnit D: Weird though, I have done way fewer dungeons than usually, and I'm already at 88 in Valley of the Four Winds... pretty sure none of my characters so far even got past 87 at that point.
Strange. Might check it out later when handing in quests.
Quick question though: Where exactly does it say that it stops giving extra exp after a certain level? I just thought the 1-80/85 meant the
scaling
stopped, not the exp gain. All it says on the exp gain is, quoted: "Equip: Experience gained is increased by 10%." on my Chest, Shoulders, Legs and Head item, while my Back item says "Equip: Experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 5%."
Wouldn't it be highlighted and made far more obvious if they suddenly just stopped working?

They figured it out when they came in; put Heirloom on, look at Quest turn in for Exp, take heirloom off, look at the exp.
For the levels they stop scaling, they stop giving the extra exp.
You are leveling quickly, because leveling is a joke even in the new content.

But I'm leveling more quickly than usually on my Hunter. That seems somewhat odd.
Have anyone tried reporting it? To me, this sounds like a bug, otherwise I'd assume that it'd be highlighted quite obvious when you outlevel them. Like, similar to how enchants you are too low level to use is highlighted in red.
Haven't had a chance to try it out on my Hunter yet, and likely wont until... uh, a couple of days.
Kinda bummed about that. But yeah, leveling is a joke. If I equip everything I have as a backup to my Heirlooms, I get more than 1k additional agility and a ton of secondary stats. It's pretty stupid that I'm still capable of pulling 16k dps singletarget.

Your hunter probably has had more rested bonus than your other characters, it does make a difference, especially if you have mining or herbalism.

Not when I can still out-do most other DPS in any dungeon while wearing them. You automatically lose the right to complain about my gear if I'm still performing better than you. You don't throw around rocks when you live in a glass house.
And I'd say that +40% exp is more than enough reason to keep them equipped :P If it actually
worked
, of course :P If it doesn't, well, all the more reason to complain about me being a stupid noob.
Also:
Your hunter probably has mining.
Duh. I'm retarded. Seems I'll be replacing my Heirlooms next time I log in, while I cash in on the 48 stacks of Ghost Iron Ore I sold on the Auction house.
...I'm easily distracted by shiny stuff.

Yeah but that's the thing; once you hit 80 the perk is gone so might as well dump those ones, and for the two(now three) 85 ones, I only ever left them on for quest turn ins: The stat increased stopped being worth it, so just started using questing greens/blues in the Cata zones while killing stuff, since a 15% buff wasn't that much per kill.

Wait...hunters can use the mail heirlooms from the very beginning? Omfg, I wish I knew that before I blew everything on the leather heirlooms. v_v
Well I'm glad this thread was made because I would have never known. Thanks guys.

There are no separate looms for alliance beside the
Inherited Insignia of the Alliance
.
Also there is no reason not to use two
Swift Hand of Justice
as they arent unique or unique-equipped.
