There are several other threads that ask about returning, read some of those.
There are no ring or necklace slots. Armor and weapons have different item levels that determine its ranking with other items, but that doesn't always mean it will be the best to use.
Since you only reached level 32 you missed out on a lot if things. If you reach the level cap you can do current tiers of raiding and dungeoning.
The game has changed, several people said it was for the better others don't like it. The only way to know is if you play it and make your own opinion about it.
Honestly, the game doesn't need rings or necklaces. They would just be something else you have to worry about when gearing up.

Well, aside from the two ring slots and the neck slot, you're absolutely right.
To the OP: 32 levels isn't really enough to get a good feel for what the game is like, you don't have a lot of your class abilities that make combat more interesting, you can't fly, you can't see any of the high-level content. So I wouldn't suggest using that experience to judge the whole game.
Pretty much all that stuff you're looking for is in the game. The dungeon finder (and at max level, the raid finder and scenarios) should keep you pretty satisfied if you're mostly looking for group content.
The "changes" people complain about are generally specific things - changing class abilities, making certain content easier or harder, cross-realm zones, etc - but the core gameplay is pretty much the same that it's always been.

Wow I've been out of the game for too long. I tried to picture the armor screen and just drew a blank on those.
But yeah they're there, and they were there back in 2010 when the OP was playing. So idk why the OP is asking about something that's already in the game.

If you notice he's asking about customization, which doesn't really exist in the lower end game, and if he only got to level 32 he wouldn't have seen many rings or neck pieces, since there aren't a lot of quests that reward them.

That's the best thing about WoW; there is no way to beat every single thing in it.

That would fall under the " you only reached level 32 and haven't really experienced the game" category.

The game is going to automatically patch up to 5.1; there is no just installing one expansion.

I'm not sure you can go "beat" original WoW, or any individual expansion. I mean... what is there to "beat" per say? What is there to "beat" in a MMORPG like this? Sure, you can make some achievement accomplishments, go kill all the heroic level bosses from the entire game, get the highest possible PvP RBG/Arena titles... but then, have you beaten the game? What about getting all your pets to level 25? Have you beaten the game then by default? What about the rest of the achievements you haven't yet completed. Perhaps you must get all achievement to win!
I'm just rambling, but in general my point is... I don't think I've notice anyone before bulking about wanting to "beat" an MMORPG like WoW.

This game is well worth getting, money well spent i think. The monthly charge isn't that steep at £8.99 (per month).. you can get game cards to play, or use direct debit methods. The bundle pack you get is nearly always on offer lately.
Watch some
YouTube
video's or check out
Twitch
... you can see the game in action.
Twitch has loads of live streamers doing all sorts of things, well worth looking at.
Also read all the latest patch notes added on this forum, it can tell you about some of the major changes to the game & some of the Guides on this forum will be good to get information from.
WOWHEAD
, has just about everything you need in order to find out information about the game.
This game has so many things to offer... finding it all out will take loads of time.
Also before you decide to get the game...

Tips
Installing the game for the very first time
, once you get the key-codes...
It is loads quicker to go to battle.net & download the digital install. Rather then use the discs if you happen to buy it from the shops. Since using the discs will take loads longer to install. Because of how some of the information on the discs is no longer needed, patching World of Warcraft does take rather long.. hehe
Added Security features for this game:
Do Authenticators Dream of Electric Corehounds?
Playing this game for the very first time:
You can miss so many things that you can do with this game.. So i thought i would add a couple of things. That will truly help you. Movement of character & Addons. Some other stuff also:
Movement:
Read up on Keybinds before you start playing the game.. since bad habits start when you're new to the game. Since the basic World of Warcraft keys are setup Ultra poo... You can re-map all of your keys. This way you can have more control over your mouse to use for moving about. This play-style is loads faster, then keyboard turning. You can also use macro's in this game.
Addons:
They can make your game play loads better, since Blizzard allows loads of types of addons. You can get addons for just about everything, helping you in so many ways. Such as... custom UI's to addons helping you with spell rotation, even timers, warning alerts, for helping with dungeons & raid encounters. Addons for pvp. The list is kinda endless.
This website has just about every major addon you might need:
Curse
.
This addon is well worth getting "
Deadly Boss Mods
".. this will tell you everything thats going to happen in raid encounters / dungeons, with warning alerts etc, timers... for when the boss is about to do something. Even useful for pvp.

You don't buy armour in this game; you get it from drops off of mobs.

Guessing he means buying armor from AH (Auction House).
I would stay clear of the AH when it comes to buying armor, & weapons for leveling up. Since most quest rewards will give you the gear you need to progress. Once you hit level 15 you can then use the Dungeon finder tool. If you do a random dungeon using this feature, you will get a loot bag. Inside will be a random piece of gear that you might be able to use.
