High Latency Problem

When I start WoW, it's fine.. but then a coupe of minutes soon my latency just starts going up to being unplayable.
I checked PingTest and my ping is high.. but I don't know why.
I recently, like 3 days ago, switched from my old laptop to this new one I'm using now.. under the same router I use for wired internet. No wireless. Can this cause High Latency?
I checked pingtest again just now and it's back to normal...
I don't know if it will jump back up again when I run WoW or stay put when I don't run WoW
That Ping just likes to hop back and forth.
Another thing I might add is that when I had my old laptop... I had no such problems with ping ever.

First, for the love of Barry's cat, do not post in all caps, all bolds, all italics, all strikethrough, all anything. (or that stupid 1capital1lowercase crap) It hurts our eyes and makes our brains bleed.
Second, power cycle your modem. It could be something as simple as that. I know when I got a few months without power cycling, my latency starts to climb. I would also recommend going to speedtest.net and making sure you are running at the speeds you are paying for.
Third, did you play WoW on the old laptop?
Finally, how old is the modem? Spiking signal could be a sign that the modem is starting to see the end of its duty life. Until you answer a few of the questions above, that is the best advice I can give you....
oh...and you may want to look at Leatrix Latency Fixer if it is something that is being caused by your ISP.

If you use a router, check for firmware updates from the manufacturer's website. Be very, very careful, make you get exactly the one you need, ie matches your exact model, and follow the instructions explicitly.
Power cycle your modem and router if you have a router. That means unplug, not just power off, for 30-60 seconds, then plug back in.
Look into the program
Leatrix Latency Fix
. It only works on the various versions of Windows, but the description has Mac instructions.
Other than that, then either your router or your modem is pooched. Or both.

MrAddison,
If you have not done so already, I might also suggest that you run a
trace route
to help diagnose the health of the connection. That page there should help you determine where the issue stems from.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##
