Sounds like tough luck to me. It's how economy goes, be in real life or WoW. If you don't want the cloth taking up space, sell it or mail it to a bank toon. Stuff influxes and deflates often enough.

Ouch, that sucks. That said, that's one hell of a risk you took considering how volatile the prices are for many old profession mats, particularly taken on a server where you were unfamiliar with the economy and the demand for what you were selling. Spending what is essentially your ingame savings to fuel a scheme that has already started badly even more so.
Save the cloth by all means. If you are or have a tailor you could try farming or finding cheap volatiles in bulk and convert a good bunch of it into bags which should still sell decently. You could also try to find someone to sell the cloth directly to for the same purpose.

Of course it will go up, but who knows when. Prices inflate with the launch of an expansion, and gradually dwindle. That's just how it goes.

That always happens the first few weeks of an expansion with old mats. It will not be coming back until next expansion. The price my creep up if you only list a few at a time, but there are not that many people now that need old-world mats... sorry, those pandas are already 90.

You'll be able to part with some of your stock but in dribs and drabs. If you try to dump it all you will pay more in AH deposits than you will get in sales.
As the others have said, putting all your gold into one good is never a wise idea, and is a downright horrible idea for a partially processed good. Raw cloth could be used for other purposes but bolts can only be used by tailors. In future if you wish to invest in materials stick to the base items (ie cloth instead of bolts, ore instead of bars etc) as your goods will be demanded by a wider audience.

Honestly, you took a bit of a risk so I can't say you're not excluded of fault, but my suggestion next time would be to consider (especially if you've just hit the ground on a new server), to use WoWhead's link to The Undermine Journal for the item(s) in question you're trying to peddle. It will give you a decent quality average pricing for every listed item in the game and how much it sells for on average on each server.
