I have gone against the grain and have decided to PvE Survival for the time being. With this being said, I do things probably a little more differently than others; I have TofTH over Dire Beast, and this allows me to gain free Arcane Shots, which are nearly always at my disposal. What I do is: When LnL proc's, I use a ExPS and then weave two Arcane Shots between the ExPS ticks, then I rinse and repeat while I CS to maintain SS on the target and etc. I just wanted to share this with other Hunters if they do not like BM(this includes me), or was curious about a SV Rotation.
P.S. --> You can use any other two abilities between ExPS ticks, such as one ArcS and Glaive Throw, or Black Arrow and GT, etc.
Happy hunting!

Survival dire beast? I thought survival uses Fervor.
Also it doesnt give you free Arcane shots. But speccing TotH you are not speccing other possible talents in this tier. Those arcane shots arent free, they cost you whatever you could get if you specced other talents.
Fervor - provides more focus than TotH, which can be used for anything it also gives same amount of focus to your pet.
Dire beast - pretty bad focuswise, but does damage.

No need. You can spam ES now and no damage gets wasted. The duration of the dot gets prolonged for all the stacks you "eaten" by firing early.

Other hunter probably go to some sites like noxxic or icy veins, and check the priority there. Reading all this i think you should go there too.

Or you can just stop misinforming people with outdated info. ES weaving was true in Wotlk, thats 2 expansions earlier. In cata we could stack one, weave the other without dps loss. In MoP we can spam.

Wow. Guess I'm a little late. I didn't know ExPS could be spammed. I thought it'd override the exsting ticks on the target.

ExS spamming was fixed back in 4.2 - well almost, and then aain it was. It ate 1 tick, but it rolled damage into the remaning ticks - I think it was a bit buggy back then though, but it works now.
I could see TotH being good for SV, especially if you feel you have enough to keep track of, or are good at maintaning focus as needed - however, as with BM, there is a genuine risk of losing a good bit of the benefit of TotH because of it overwriting itself and you not getting to use all the procs fully. Fervor is only really good if you are "good at" (previously it was bad play) getting low on focus every ~30 seconds.

Zakkhar sounded like he was offended by my post. I use TotH very efficently. I don't have an issue with focus at all. That's why I like the passiveness TotH instead of other focus-generating cooldowns.

In my opinion, TotH is not a bad choice, its just not better than the other 2 choices for most situations, however, simulations showing Fervor and DB better than TotH also assume that you utilize them 100%. DB is probably the easiest to utilize fully, its a fire and forget ability every 30 seconds, and the focus gain is not instant, so a lot easier to convert into more damage without overcapping focus* and losing dps.
* capping focus is not a dps loss in and of itself, it is only a dps loss if you could convert the focus into more damage than you are doing (extending SrS at the cost of focuscapping for a second or 2 is not a dps loss compared to letting it drop off and spending 25 focus on reapplying it), however when we are talking specifically of the focus generating talent, their only dps contribution (excepting DBs damage done) is the focus they provide, so we need to utilize the focus fully to utilize the talents dps potential fully - and we need to be able to drain our focus enough to do it everytime it comes off cd in the case of DB and Fervor.

I'm rarely at full Focus with TotH. I manage it very well I think. I make sure I cast what I need to and when I need to, and it simply works for me in SV. I get more Arcane Shots, and I don't have to manage another cooldown.
