I thought that NPCscan might have been a viable option, until I got to the part where clearing the cache required closing the client.

/target wild turkey
Maybe some
Tracker Snacks
if just looking isn't viable.

To expand on Suggestion's post, you can turn on target tracking on the top right minimap by clicking the magnifying glass.
Make a macro by typing /macro and typing /target Wild Turkey. Save it and put it to a keybind. Now you target turkeys and they appear on your minimap.

Make the following macro, and bind it to a key"
/tar wild turkey
Bind a key to set a marker, such as skull on your target
Now, the real key to this achievement is not just in the macro, but is 99% is having patience, and a little bit of luck and awareness mixed it.
First, if you are horde, the best area I have found is along the path leading to Scarlet Monastery, and the area surrounding it. You don't have to be completely alone, but if the area is really busy, wait for a better time (early morning, or late at night is best).
Second (and this is REALLY the key to this achievement)....IT IS NOT A RACE!...Kill a turkey, use your macro to target your next kill, and WAIT until you have only a few seconds left on the timer to kill the next one. This gives turkeys time to respawn later in your progress. Just be methodical in your hunt. Even if you have 5 turkeys bunched in a group, kill one, and wait for the timer.
Now...if your hunting area starts drawing attention of others, be prepared to kill a turkey, and mount up and run as far away from your competition as you can, but be sure to dismount and locate another turkey before time runs out.

Wouldn't this constitute killing a critter?
Sorry to derail a little, but Blackmonarch has made multiple threads regarding his inability to stop killing critters due to lack of knowledge using AoE abilities. Even stating he rerolls a toon if he kills one to justify his thread making on this exact topic.
And now he wants to know a way to kill a critter for an achievement.?
The mind doth boggle.

The turkeys are level 1 beasts, so they are safe to kill even for people who do the ironman challenge.

Spamming this:
/target wil
Worked well enough. It picked up a lot of turkeys that I otherwise would have gone right past.

Nope. They're beasts.

I haven't cast a single Thunder Clap since Blood and Thunder got bumped up to level 46, so AoE abilities have nothing to do with it. It was all about involuntary auto-targeting and the bizarre kill-sharing with random players in my vicinity.
There is an add on called Tidy Plates, in addition to being a kick ass name plate add on you can also assign a graphical representation to specific
Awesome. I'll remember that.
critter such as Wild Turkeys
They're not critters. They're beasts.
