Hi and welcome to WoW :)
It's very difficult for people to tell you what you'll find fun in the game,as one mans meat is another mans poison. It's a bit like asking someone what your favourite colour should be.
I've got three 85's(ret pally, arcane mage and aff lock)all human, but what I want to play just depends on my mood at the time.
For me the ret pally was a perfect starting class,as you can self heal, take a good chunk of damage and throw out a good chunk of damage as well which is great when your new with no friends to help,So i'd recommend that, but you should take a few classes up to level 20-30 or so and see what rocks your boat.

you can always try a horde race or a different class.
many people prefer hunter as their first class, since they're relatively easy too start with and the pet makes it a lot easier.
but personally i would say give everything a chance, the 1st few levels are generally a bit dull but once you go level 10+ the pace is slowly picking up and around lvl20 you can be decently sure the class either fits you or not.

Give the Horde a try. Goblins have a fun starting area, as do trolls. I actually wouldn't go with a hunter first because hunters have a ton of buttons; instead, try a retribution paladin or a balance druid. Both are very good at self-healing and can perform any role once you hit max level.

It may just be a matter of your class selection as the others have said. You started the two classes I just can't get into, and I've been playing for years. If you provide some of your likes and dislikes we could go into the pros and cons of each class.
For example, do you like to be right up in a mob's face or do you prefer standing at a distance? If you are going to group with other people, do you want to be the one directing the fight or do you want follow? Do you even plan on grouping or is this a solo endeavour? Are you in a rush to get to endgame content or do you like to take your time?
Each class has things they are best at, each race has a bit of a different feel to it, and the Horde has a different culture and set of priorties than the Alliance.

lol no we don't, certainly not more than any other class.
KC,SS, Arcane, Steady / replace with cobra shot once you get it. Most mobs are dead by this point.
I forgot that I haven't leveled a hunter in a long time and when I did, he was an engineer.
