I was surfing for solutions and found these 3:
•
Latrix
(Worth a try, but didn’t really work out for me).
•
TCP optimizer
(This app actually did something good. I noticed it when surfing and downloading, but it didn’t solve my WoW problem).
•
Lower my ping.
(If someone has experience with it please post and I will add it)
"Lowering ping" and "solving high latency issues" are the same thing. So basically you just said "The solution to my high latency issue would be to solve my high latency issue". =P
Anyways,
L
e
atrix latency fix has worked for me. Haven't used TCP optimizer myself.
• I switched to
Avast antivirus
scanner and found suspicious files (I had another before).
• I switched to
Comodo Firewall
to control my ports better (I had another before).
Avast has a built-in firewall too so I don't see a good reason to use yet another program for that.
• I installed Malware bites (I got rid of spyware and malware).
• I installed Sophos Root kit scanner (I found some hidden files I deleted. Root kits are bad!)
• I used HijackThis, and got rid of BHOs.
Having a clean system is kind of an obvious thing for me. If you have all sorts of malware. spyware, root kits and whatever on your system it's not really a surprise to have lowered performance. In all honesty, if you had that much malicious stuff on there it would probably be a good choice to completely format and re-install the OS.
• I used EmsiSoft against Trojans (I didn’t found any) This was basically a useless step since you had already used Avast to scan the system earlier.
Edit: Forgot to mention something from my own lag/disconnect issues. I had some latency problems at the beginning of Cataclysm and they got better after I installed the previously mentioned Leatrix latency fix.
However, I was still having lag spikes every now and then, usually followed by a disconnect. After battling the situation for what seemed to be way too long I had a thought: What if it's just my modem getting unstable electricity, causing it to hang? Well I switched the modem's power cord to a different spot and that seemed to have solved the problem; haven't had a single disconnect since.
I was pretty dumbfounded after that worked out.

Regarding the build in Firewall of Avast: Don’t you think that there might be a better out there?
I do, yes. I didn't mean to imply that Avast built-in firewall was the best out there. What I meant was that using yet another extra program in the background is probably taking up more resources than using the built-in one on the program already in use, and that might possibly have an undesired effect on gaming.
edit: After further investigation it seems that the free version of Avast doesn't even include a firewall... I don't know if it's just changed from what it used to be or if my memory served me wrong there but I haven't used it myself in a long time, yet somehow I was remembering it had a firewall. Sorry!
“Lower my Ping” is some kind of reduce latency service (website).
Ahh, okay. My bad then =P

Latency Optimizer 3.0 Thank you for pointing this program out to me; got it today, and went in for the full version...and love it: My ping is normally huge during prime time hours, but after using the optimizer, didn't see it go above 300 today.

I wouldn't post screenshots, but you could make a link to the website once you have significant website rep to do so. Also....it's worth it to get the paid version; helps even more lol. And yeah, each morning I restart my comp, and from now on, I'll be using the optimizer before I do that, as well as running it at least once a week to help clean up the comp.

Look at your name on the side; your rep is 122; once you get to 150, you can post a link here to go to another site. Right now if you try that, it will say , but if someone quotes you, they'll be able to see it.

Whoa! Thank you so much for this information! I switched out a separate modem and router for a combination, upgraded my internet and cable plus deleted the landline. That's when things started to lag. I was already doing a couple things on your list, then did a couple more which helped. The biggest change? The power outlet: it had been switched around with all of the changes - switching it back has made the biggest difference. Thanks for your guide!

I tried all of them and still no luck until other day I found EZ Game Booster on Wowinterface, and it lowered my latency 20-30 ms. Plus I gained great amount of FPS as well, its a great free program and you should go check it out.
