so i was thinking about the monk melee dps spec and how haste could effect it in a significant way.
now haste effects has 4 ways too affect dps atm.
- casting time reduction
- reducing global cooldown
- increasing auto attack speed
- resource regeneration (focus/energy/runes)
now for melee users mainly 2 and 3 count, and often haste isnt one of the priorities cause they wont give a lot of dps increasement by stacking it. compared too other stats like hit/expertise/crit/mastery ( think warriors)
k, now i have said that. lets look at haste and then at the dps spec of monks. we atm do not know a lot of it. but what we heard so far it sounds like its going to be a flowing combat style. this doesnt leave any room for casting abilties.
now another thing we know atm from monks is that they wont have an auto attack, making the
3rd point i mentioned also mood for monks.
that leaves the global cooldown reduction haste gives. considering that monks have no auto attack, means that they wanna use their basic attacks as much as they in order too quickly dish out damage. and being able too hit an instant attack every second might prove to be very powerfull and a big motivator too stack it.
and last monks have chi too use their basic attacks, which regens over time. assuming chi will fall under a similiar system as focus atm does. monks might wanna stack haste for quicker chi regen, which in turn allows them too use more attacks.
how you guys think haste will affect the monk class? you think it might become a very usefull secondary stat. or something you want too reforge away from.
