What are the pros and cons of each healer and tank class?

Having played dps caster characters (mage and warlock), Im interested in trying out a tank or healer, or maybe both. I'm stuck on which classes to roll, though and was wondering if someone could point out what they think are the pros and cons of each tank (warrior/paladin/deathknight/druid) and healer (priest/shammy/paladin/druid) class. For the tank, I'm interested in threat/aggro traits, as well as all the other stuff, like gear, spells, etc.
Thanks!

If you pick a pally or druid, you can play both tank and healer.

I'm just going to stick in my two cents for a healer: Play a shaman. There are several reasons for this:
1: Shaman healing isn't all that hard to pick up. You only end up with about four heals, but they all work very well; Chain heal for raids, lesser healing wave for your general single target, mix in a regular old healing wave if somebody's health drops, and you can throw Riptide on casters who have taken a hit, or on a tank if you need an extra second to throw off a bigger heal. To add on to this, you get to throw your own personal healing enchant on your weapon, and you have earth shield to put on whoever needs it (usually the tank).
2: Mana problems are almost nonexistant, as far as I've seen. At first, I was having problems after I hit 80 because everybody else was in mostly TOC25/early ICC items. However, within a week (healers get fast heroics) I had acquired some gear, lots of it with MP5. I haven't had to watch my mana for a while now, even in the raids I've done.
3: General raid utility often lends itself well to Shamans. Number one, you have totems. Along with various totem buffs that help at least a good portion of the raid, you also have Heroism/Bloodlust, which increases attack speed and casting speed, allowing for a raid-wide burst of productivity.
Those are just some things I've experienced playing my shaman, and frankly, it's made that my favorite class. Yeah, it's a little slow to level, and sure, having only four heals is a little boring, but I honestly feel that the extra things you bring to the plate make up for it.
Edit: TL:DR-- You only have a few spells, so it's hard to be indecisive about which spell to use. Your totems and heroism/bloodlust add desirable raid-helpfulness. Finally, your mana pool will eventually feel almost indefinite. So; give it a try!

Tanks - Pros: You stop the raid from dying | Cons: You take damage =(
Healers - Pros: You keep the tanks alive | Cons: You use up lots of mana =(

If you want both tanking and healing coupled tigether in one class then go paladin. Great in both rolls and fun to play and mess around with. You can also solo just about every quest you do with relative ease. Besides, if you ever miss being that aedile dpser in the group you can always go ret. You could do Druid but they're not nearly as fun or vercitile IMO.
This opinion is wrong, because paladin's are extremely monotonous leveler's, and tanking druids can simply switch to cat form to dps in a fight (no time to switch to ret if you're an ot paladin). Druids provide numerous rade-wide debuffs on targets as well as having a RANGED dps option.
Opinion;
"An opinion is a subjective statement or thought about an issue or topic, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts." - From Wikipedia, the epic Encyclopedia of awesome.
You sir, are a dumbass. "This opinion is wrong..." is where you started failing.
Name one fight where the bear tank will need to switch to cat dps mid fight. Most Druids do more damage in Bear Form in tank specced gear than Cat Form, anyway...
Druids have different buffs to Paladins and I'm sure the group would prefer +10% to all stats than some resistance and pretty thorns. Correctly specced Paladins have just as useful debuffs to apply as well.
Of course, my opinion could be wrong. Wait, no it can't,
because it's an opinion

I would say level a druid because:
1. They can pretty much do anything(and 2 types of DPS!)
2. Feral Dps is actually pretty fun, as in very very hard to do well.
3. Resto druids are very hard to beat in 2's arena. VERY. (needs a nerf pls)
4. Bear druids are fat. F-A-T. Very fat. But thats pretty much all a bear druid is good for.
5. Trees are awesome for raid heals. And if u love being hot. (fail joke!)

You could do Druid but they're not nearly as fun or vercitile IMO.This is clearly incorrect, as Druid is the only class that can fill all 4 archetypes in the game. (Tank, Healer, Melee, Ranged) In fact, it would be almost impossible to be more "vercitile " than a druid, merely equally versatile.

Probably Sindragosa before Phase 2
Also Festergut, Putricide if not doing Abom, Saurfang if you want to minmax, Final phase of LK, possibly some others that I'm missing.

Well with Putricide you usually want a tank in abom so that the dps can be the best possible instead of having a cat in tank gear dps but all the others are possibilities.

It depends on your raid. In the PuGs we run sometimes a healer or DPS who isn't terrible ends up doing the Abom since letting idiots Abom is a great way to waste time and wipe. =p
In general though I agree with you.
