Yeah but with only 5 lvl difference, some pieces from 70 were still good starting at 80 with a 10 lvl difference. So i should hope with only a 5 lvl difference, the difference in gear from quests and stuff with each lvl will be more than what they were in BC and WotLK... with how easy they are making gear to get now anyway, guess it shouldn't be that bad..
could just have my pet monkey play a few days at 85 and i'll be full epics again...
Are you complaining that after the stat changes your gear won't be very good and that'll be a problem because all of the other pre raid gear is going to be worse?

some pieces from the burning crusade sets like tier 6 were still good at 80........ for entry raids anyways, try going to ulduar, or TOC, or ICC on tier6 and expect a bloody massacre.
when cataclysm arrives, your gear is gonna suck and that's a fact, BUT, a large ammount of it will be replaced on the way to 85, and once you hit entry-lvl raids (cata's equivalent of Naxxramas or Karazan) EVERYTHING you may have obtained from WOLTK will be gone.
ask the top guilds who cleared naxx in tier 6 and BC Epics if they kept those once they started raiding naxx............ the answer is no.
by the time Ulduar was out nobody was using BC gear, NOBODY.
so stop complaining, Spirit from DPS gear will be removed and other stats will be increased to compensate, just as fel armor makes your spirit turn into SP, in cata that will be changed so that intelect will give SP, problem fixed.
stop making a drama out of everyrthing, u're basically complaining that the old gear u're no longer going to use it's gonna be useless.........
this is as if I was complaining that my shaman tier 2 isn't good for jack squat these days.
who cares if it's a useless tier? it's obsolete to the point you can't even do 5man regs these days with it.

In patch 4.0, spirit will be removed from your dps caster gear. Each piece of gear has a stat budget and those stats have to go somewhere. If you happen to be using a healer item, that will hurt you.
so stop complaining, Spirit from DPS gear will be removed and other stats will be increased to compensate, just as fel armor makes your spirit turn into SP, in cata that will be changed so that intelect will give SP, problem fixed.Obsolescense aside, I'm curious, what is DPS caster gear?
The way things stand at the moment, perhaps the sole distinction between DPS caster and healing gear is the provision of hit and MP5. All other caster stats are desirable to many caster classes. The spirit on
Volde's Cloak of the Night Sky
is used by druids and priests for healing, while warlocks, mages and priests use it for DPS.
you pretty much provided your own answer.
caster gear has mostly Hit, and crit, Healing gear has MP5 and Haste.
other than that, both are quite usefull for both sides.
this will change in cataclysm but only for cloth DPS.
Leather caster(druid) and mailcaster(shaman) will share their gear with their healing-counterparts (balance druids and resto druids will have the exact same gear, Ele shamans and resto shamans will have the exact same gear)
Edit: and that cloak you linked is a DPS cloak, healers have little need for crit, that being said, it is still a nice upgrade to several healing cloaks avaliable, and thus while DPS may benefit more from them, healers benefit too for the rest of the stats.

I figured they just change life tap and fel armor to make it INT or STM based. Blizz is reworking the whole system and hopefully wont break much. But im sure they have something pland, if not we got a few months of beta ahead to see.

Well any gear that is clearly DPS gear (such as gear with hit or part of a warlock tier set) will likely have spirit dropped from it completely.
You might have a few items be recategorized as strictly healing cloth, but I'm sure you'll be able to replace those fairly quickly. Worst case scenario you are running around Hyjal/The Lost City of Vashj'ir with a few wasted stats, hardly an issue.
