I know you can do it cross faction on the same realm, I don't believe it's possible to mail anything across realms.

Only for heirlooms.
Which was the question the thread is asking about.
As for Cross-Realm, Blizzard stated in their Q&A they are working on it, and to expect it Soon*.
Crap misread the post was quoting.
Fail eyes.

Honestly, many people might consider this a bad idea.
Imagine having a random 5-man go bad. It doesn't happen often (*snicker*) but it does happen. (It happens often enough to turn many people off to running random dungeons)
If these jerkwads could mail you, in addition to the abuse you sustain for 15-45 minutes at a time? It would be a major pain in the butt. For Blizzard, as well, I'm sure they realize. (Because they would get many more complaints about harassment)

I just want them to allow us to mail heirlooms cross realm, if they just made it as that kind of restriction id be good to go

Hate mails has been part of the game since they introduced the mail system. I can't count the numbers of mails I received after I did some world pvp or undercut the AH.

If someone wanted to send you hate mail regardless, all they'd have to do is make a level 1 on your server to spout off non-sense.

An alternative to the mailing heirlooms across realms would be to have a vendor on all servers and once you unlock the heirlooms on one realm, you can get them again on another.
I hope that wasn't as clear as mud.

I see you are new here.
You shouldn't necro on these forums.
You shouldn't necro outdated discussions on these forums.
Replying to someone who posted nearly two years ago is one thing; however, if he hadn't, Myndaira's response may never have happened, and I believe that a suggestion of a special heirloom vendor like that is relevant to the discussion in such a way as to not be a necro.
Hope that wasn't clear as mud.
TL;DR - Yes, Septembre's post was a bad necro, but it brought about Myndaira's (in a way) which, by itself, would be a good necro.
On-topic: I think an heirloom vendor that let you buy heirlooms you already have on another server might be the best way to do it if they can't get the different servers to talk to each other. The hardest part would be checking that your account has said heirloom, and that you aren't trying to own more than you do on your original server.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##I just want to add a note here in green to say that it's okay to bring back an old thread (really
any
age) as long as there's no time-sensitive info in the thread that might be misleading today and as long as you have something to contribute to the topic.
Septembre's comment wasn't particularly constructive but I totally agree with Pwntiff that if that not-so-great post has sparked off some real discussion then that's a good thing. Real discussion, sharing thoughts and ideas, is definitely what we want to promote wherever possible.
General things about necros like this are, if you have something to discuss on the topic don't be timid to do so despite the topic being necro'd. Also, please don't remark on the necro itself, just report it and then we can sort it out.
-I think the topic of necros and how we deal with them is interesting and might be worth bringing up in Wowhead Feedback where we can all discuss it properly. It would be best not to discuss that sort of thing in this thread though.
--Also, sorry for putting all this in Pwntiff's post. I didn't want to add it in a real post on the thread because it would likely cause a derail.

Nobody has found the perfect forum solution anyway. Some forums have threads that last less time than an instant messaging convo, some go for a month, some never purge. On another forum I go to without purging, people often link numerous threads on the same article that have been made in the past. There was a ten year necro that got the original thread locked. On another without purging, I got moderated for a necro of three months. Over here I've seen people get threads locked because there's a better place for their discussion to go to.
Maybe "if it's not on the first page, make a new thread" is a good rule of thumb.
On topic: It's strange how they still haven't implemented this. I've been guilty of making a level one alt myself, after some guy joined a run halfway through under old LFG rules and proceeded to roll need on literally everything that dropped that he could need on (couldn't be kicked, think we were in Oculus). I messaged his guild master and informed trade chat.

The reason (last I heard, and I don't really follow WoW anymore) was that there was no reliable way to get the servers to communicate with each other to be able to send mail across them. And fixing that would likely require a complete server restructuring, which is more work than it's really worth.

Well don't I feel sheepish :-/
Apologies for not reading dates better.
But I still think that having a vendor would be easier than restructuring servers. ;-)

this might work with the new ethereals or whatever that they added in (the void storage/reforge/transmog vendors). This could be something that they have a new vendor with them that does this, allows you to rather than buy heirloom, you say unlock that heirloom with your account, then allowing you to on any character nab yourself a souldbound heirloom, soulbound because any character on your account can nab these pieces, which cant be sold and must be deleted when you are done using them. this might even make it easier for heirlooms in general because you dont have to mail them with every new character, and you can have 2 or 3 characters you are leveling that use the same heirlooms, rogue + kitty for instance. This way you dont have to keep mailing heirlooms in between characters, without having to buy an extra set.
