Lowbies are not affected by the Looking for
Raid
tool.
@AkaShindou, I would suggest you explain your dissatisfaction with LFR. Otherwise I see no point in keeping the thread.

LFR was an okay idea but it's got a few major flaws. You can be in LFR and LFD at the same time which is a huge pain. It's not easy to find raid groups that are forming like you used to see with the old method of doing it.
What I would like to see is something a little more robust and user friendly with some additional features that would bring people to use the tool. As it is now, people just use trade chat instead.

They should go further with it. Given the success of LFD I think they will. It should automatically put the raid together from the queue. It should also have loot rolls adjusted to how loot is distributed in raids.

Raids, unlike dungeon parties, don't have a rigid group composition. 2 tanks, 5 healers, 18 DPS? or 3 tanks, 6 healers, 17 DPS? How would the LFR tool decide which group composition to go with? And what about raids that need 2 tanks for everything but one fight? Or even worse, what if on that fight, a plate class can substitute a tank, even if they are in a DPS spec?
There are too many variables.

While that is very true, it should still be technically possible for the LFR tool to check your dual-spec-ablility and comprise a raid capable of doing the entire instance. In most cases, as long as you have at least 3 bears/plate-wearers and 6 classes with healing spells, they can jump in and out of DPS roles according to the fight requirements when less of each are required. GO GO GADGET HYBRID CLASSES.
Even if the spec(s) you bring to the raid is on a volunteer basis like LFD is, where you can sign up to only DPS even if you have a tank/heal offspec and don't feel like it or aren't geared enough, it would still be possible. But queueing as just DPS would greatly reduce your odds of getting into a raid I'd imagine, like it does now with LFD...
I'm just being devil's advocate here, I'm not picking a fight :P

Do PUG raids really go all out to micro manage the make up of the group? I'm willing to bet that a raid put together by a LFR tool would do a better job at it. Blizzard would probably have a separate "Best Template" for each raid and go from there.

if people dont like getting joined with crappy people then they need a raid ranking system. By doing more raids you get more raid exp allowing you to play with higher players. If the lowbies are having trouble dont baby them let them learn and get better. If they fail on a boss like 5 times, they get help.
Based on how many LFR runs completed.
Do I really need to point out what a horrible idea that is?
Bad players are still bad players regardless of whether it's their first run or their 100th run.
The problem is they never learn and at all levels LFR is a vehicle to carry them.
I'd be totally happy if they abolished LFR tomorrow, because it, like many things in the game has been perverted to pander to the lowest common denominator, and many of the people walking away from LFR with epic loot are not fit to equip it.
You can literally do nothing in LFR and succeed, and as an example, inspired by a Mike Preach video someone linked here a couple of weeks ago, I did just that.
Friday night I went out for a few beers, and came back. Booted WoW and queued for raid finder.
Cracked a can open and sat back through 2 LFR runs. The group was the usual assortment.
I finished the night with 3 new pieces of gear, Zero effort, Zero comments, Tell me that is right?
And while you are at it, maybe explain to me how a ranking system would prevent me doing that?

i think it should be pointed out, that this post is brought back from 3.3.0 ICC era.
while there was a LFR tool, its nothing like the current LFR which was only added in 4.3 DS era.
this old tool, just had you select certain raids and then it would show you as interested for people who were making a pug for a raid and searched for people through this panel.
it was hardly ever used, since it was quicker too just spam trade chat and fill up a group.
