I make no secret that i myself am one of the many people who suffer with this terrible condition, im not sure if anyone else knows but could sitting infront of an LCD laptop screen be reason for concern ?Have you had one at all in the 5 years Warcraft has been out? If not.... I'm guessing no then, that the lights don't pulse in the right way to trigger the seizures like some video games and cartoons did.

i would assume its possible since im pretty sure wow comes with a warning along with all video games saying that it can cause epileptic seizures

The earth revenants in VOA cause a lot of flashes when they die. So be weary of those. I haven't noticed any other revenants do it, though.

FaaR I agree with you, there is a lot you can do in WoW to minimize the risk of triggering seizures and all the steps you've mentioned can work. I started playing WoW in the Vanilla years and played it a lot back then (about 10 years ago), probably played it too much and fainted causing me to have seizures ever since then. We played it casually after that. ME playing WoW excessively is what caused the seizures and not the game itself, saying that I've played many other MMOs and SP games before and since for long hours and not had a single problem. I started playing WoW again 2 weeks ago and had a seizure yesterday, coincidence? I'm not sure...
I don't play WoW for any longer time without breaks or lack of sleep than any other game. Since I've been on epilepsy medication I have a seizure 2-3 times a year regardless. I had one back in February which I feel was long overdue as I didn't have a second one last year, and then suddenly one yesterday now that I've started playing WoW again. It could well be a coincidence but how can this half-baked theory be tested?

I never had a problem until Timeless, and then only when I got into Wrathion's quest at Thunder Forge. Playing since vanilla, never had a serious problem on either Mac or Windows. Soon as I got into Part 6 of the quest - wham! Repeat seizures so bad I started vomiting. This was repeat whenever the boss got below 50% as the ground clutter rate increases.
I'm on pretty high dose medication for seizures, so this is not something I think a lot of people would experience unless they already have a diagnosed condition. The ground clutter is a very serious problem: there's just no way to control the strobe rate does being a very intense stroboscopic, high intensity rate above 5 hz and below 50 hz, which is in the range that is very well known for seizures.
I asked tech support and their answer was "I should get a friend to sit with me and help me through it". Well, gee no. I'm 54 years old and I'm a military veteran with a medical disability - not a kid. The question is about how the specific sequence in the game was coded that causes a medical issue to the player. I didn't ask for them to give me a pass.

Layman's impression, different people have different stimuli for seizures.
I don't recall
The Thunder Forge
that well, but the "pulsing Sha puddle/blob" is pretty omnipresent throughout all of Pandaria, so it couldn't be just that quest alone - but as I said above, circumstances matter.
It's great that you haven't had any problems until now, but it was prone to happen at some point.
Some general advice that comes to my mind, if you haven't tried it before:
Reduce WoW's quality to the absolute minimum, it might affect the quality and detail of the Sha puddles.
Turn down either the brightness or the contrast of your monitor so that the pulses are less prominent. Do this while already in the Forge to determine how far you can go while still recognizing important things.
Increase the distance between monitor and your eyes, make the area around the monitor well-lit.
I understand "trial and error" is not a good approach here, though.
Lastly, I don't know how to put this in a more friendly way: if you're 54 and epileptic, you should by now know better than to turn down the idea of getting help in such a case.

That's definitely good advice, in fact - it's great advice. It's exactly what I did. It seems 'contrary to fact' to most people.
During Phase 6, the puddle storm grows in intensity and speed, which is not consistent with other, similar effects I've seen in the game. That doesn't mean I am asserting it doesn't exist in the game, just that I didn't experience it as a mostly solo player who does LFR and some guild stuff on multiple 90s in full timeless all in 500+.
Most games have an option of creating an outline effect in lieu of the flashing; that's pretty consistent with alternate navigation implementation.
Once a seizure starts, I'm out for anywhere from 10 seconds to 3 minutes. They're different than standard epileptic seizures; mine's caused by brain trauma. It's the same reason I don't go into casinos, many theater productions and live concerts.
