What Lespaul says about gearing is correct - to gear for starting Arena ASAP, you need to do PvE to speed it up.
Heroics - Deadly gear
ToC10/25 - Furious gear
VoA - Relentless legs and gloves and other furious and deadly bits (i think)
Wintergrasp - for honor, money (for enchants), marks for trinkets (if you need those ones), marks for honor hand in.
And ofc get into BGs. Premading for marks is an extremely fast way to gain honor.
Stats you want -
800+ resilience. You will get gibbed, skills or not, with anything lower than that. This means resilience gems, chest enchants, leg enchants, shoulder enchants, trinkets. You can only replace these things when you hit about 900 resilience.
140 hit and 75 spell pen (spell pen can be achieved by epic blue gems in your 3 blue sockets. there is also a cloak enchant). You want this because back-and-forth Cyclone rotations are the staple of many DK/Warrior + Druid tactics so your cyclones missing/resisting can be disastrous.
As much spell power as you can get once all that is sorted.
For 2v2 specs, I would get the Insect Swarm spec, but afaik (copying high rated 2v2 Druids) it's not quite as Les linked.
It's this:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0yGczbcoZZf0IubuxmdA0sb:jkf
Note Glyphs. The idea behind the spec is that if your partner plays very aggressively and can put out a lot of damage without getting too badly hurt, it buys you a lot of GCDs to spend on being aggressive yourself. Double dotting the target and even squeezing in a Wrath cast or 2 between heals.
It's possible to get Furor also for Bashing without need for a GCD for Enrage, but that is a high-skill thing you can look into if and when you get to face highly skilled opponents.
For 3v3, yes a warlock is an excellent companion to Warrior Druid, although with a DK maybe a rogue is better so you have a healing debuff.
For 3v3 specs more like:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0VGczbZZf0IubuxmdAhswo:jkR
(i think)
Nature's Grace is not something you will get much, if any, benefit from in arena. Wild Growth can help even as a single target HoT when being pounded by 2 DPSers at once.

IMO, dropping GotEM is a terrible idea, especially when starting out. Throw away your 5/5 Tranquil spirit. GotEM > TS... faster GCD for LB, Rej, and WG > 10% mana savings on nourish/HT/Tranquility.
Close to a good spec, but do NOT drop GotEM when going all the way down to Wild Growth.

After that you should specc into balance/resto.
Like this:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0xGbuVcohZZf0fuduxwzi0R
Then you will have insanly much manaregen.
Nice spec, although I cant see you needing that much mana regen for pvp. 2 Points from Dreamstate would be better spent in Improved Barkskin for better survivability, probably.
Find me a high rated druid without
2/2 Improved Barkskin
. Not saying there isn't one, but I never seen it, nor can i find one on AJ. Not having that extra armor will probably cost you more mana in healing back lost mitigation than you gain from Dreamstate, not to mention increasing your chances of a premature death.
Also - what
razzem
said. It's all about HoTs, not casting. You may need to use cast time heals, but without powerful fast HoTs you won't live to cast anything.

There is quite a bit of bad advice here on resto pvp, (1) DO NOT GEM FOR RESIL, EVER.
What most people do not realize is that SP power is a survival stat just as much as resil, because it causes your heals to heal you for more, but where SP power takes over from resil is the fact it will also help keep your partner up, where as resil does nothing for your partner.
As for a spec, this is a good spec
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0vGczbcoZZf0IubuxVkA0sb
I don't take Nature's Grace because your going to be rolling hots most of the time, the only time you will be critting with heals is from swiftmend, or nourish spamming. Most of the time you won't be able to take advantage of the casting speed buff because, you will either have to LoS, your partner will be full or you will get CCed, seeing as how it is only a 3 second thing.
For your gearing, you want 75 spell pen, and 6% hit, this is mandatory. Enchant your cloak for the +35 spell pen, then 2 +20 spell pen gems. Get the +hit neck, ring and cloak. This will put you at a good amount of hit. Do not gem for resil, gem for spell power where you can. You can gem for the socket bonus as well, but always try to get spell power in there.
For 2's, RDruid/Warr is a very strong comp, RDruid/DK is still decent, but not as OP as it used to be. RDruid/Rogue is one of the most fun comps I have ever run, but it takes very good co-ordination and communication, the rogue has to be quite good as well.
For 3's you have a variety of comps. RDruid/Warr/Warlock also known as WLD is a very strong comp for the past few season. Your lock will be affliction, dotting up everybody that he can, once he has applied pressure and you see an opening, the warrior will go in to do the clean up job and finish someone off, it is a defensive setup until you get the kill opportunity, fear, mortal strike, bladestorm. Someone should die.
You also Have RDruid/Warr/Ret - some play with a DK instead of ret, but I find the ret has better utility with bubble, freedom and defensive dispels. Nothing like a mage screwing your team with slows and etc.. Your ret on this team can't just be all about damage, he has to make sure he is dispelling your warr, and most of the time giving freedom to your warr as well.
There is also double healer/Warr since you don't have a dispel you will want to run with a disc priest or holy or protadin since they can make sure your warr doesn't get locked down. I know right now Disc/Rdruid/warr is quite strong.
Hope this helps some.

... I have just got my druid to 80 for one reason, to Heal in PvP.... the other problem is the lack of resilience,
i have like 0 atm...
There is quite a bit of bad advice here on resto pvp, (1) DO NOT GEM FOR RESIL, EVER.
Thread context is someone starting from scratch with gearing.
To be fair, if you are below 800 resilience you have very bad gear for the current season, therefore you should stack resilience to get it above that.
Once you get there
, the gems are the first to go, then the trinkets and the enchants normally stay (head shoulders chest). With Furious and Relentless gear you are easily over 800-900 and don't need any resilience gemming. A good warrior f.e. can really annihilate sub 800 resil druids in seconds regardless of spellpower. (ps - i didn't have to look far to find several 2700+ restos with Durable Ametrine sp/resilience gems also, and a majority of them with one +20 resilience gem ;-)
Much of the other "bad advice" was stuff you went on to repeat :-P Although more detail on the comps is nice to read.
And idd 6% is a better hit cap than 4%. Racials ftw :-)

Im currently running 13/0/58 on my Rdruid and my partner is a unholy dk. i am building up my pvp gear as quickly as i can but i am curious about 24/0/47 spec. is the reduced healing worth the IS? or is 24/0/47 only good once u reach certain stats?
It has more to do with style really. I went 24/0/27 because I noticed myself spending more time out of tree than in tree anyways due to frequent moonfires, cyclones, and travel forms. Switching back to tree to heal would be a silly way to spend mana.
There is no stat requirement before you start using 24/0/47. Both specs render you one of the toughest PvPers, so resilience level doesn't especially favor one or the other. IS is pretty amazing, no matter what your spellpower, because the 3% hit is a surprisingly big deal for melee.
tl;dr: Go 24/0/47 if you are comfortable with Cyclone and Moonfire-Totemstomping.

I take it that with this spec you do the majority of your healing outside tree form (nice vs locks)
Bad when the lock has a succubus out. He can't seduce you when you are tree. He can seduce you loads when you are caster (if the pet is alive for long :-).
but can it produce close to the same healing as 13/0/58? Can some1 list the benifits of using one spec over the other, or is it as simple as higher dmg vs higher heals?
In 2v2 it more or less can match the healing power tbh. You often have no need at all for Wild Growth in 2s. Living Seed you lose and you lose Gift of the Earthmother for faster HoT stacking. You gain a chunk of spell power from Lunar Guidance and you gain the ability to add a really worthwhile amount of opportunistic damage pressure. You can use IS to apply mana efficient drain style DPS also. Hence sooo many people using 24/0/47 in 2s. Use 13/0/58 in 2s if you want to play very defensive style healing the whole time. 13/0/58 is much more common in 3s.
Current specs for Druid 2s:
Insect Swarm Resto 24/0/47------ 33.0%
Deep Resto 13/0/58 ------ 24.0%
Feral 0/59/12 ------ 18.0%
Work out if that is the current winning spec for your comp by going:
2v2s -
http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/2v2/Druid/
3v3s -
http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/3v3/Druid/
Add the 2nd class you are interested in playing with at the top, then click the team name, then the druid, then his name to go to armory to see spec. You can see gear easy enough right on AJ.

Banish.
Banish is a LOT easier to dodge than talented seduce. I thought that went without saying but i guess not.

I have 2 questions:
1 - How much health do resto druids generally need in 2v2 or 3v3 pvp arenas? Is it worth gemming for stamina?
22-23k ish. Don't gem Stamina, put spell pen gems in the blue sockets.
2- Is it worth getting both the 2 piece resto pvp set AND the 2 piece boomkin pvp set? (i.e. to achieve +50 resilience x 2)
No. The resto 4-set bonus is good and you need all the regen you can get, and once you have all epic PvP items you can have all the resilience you need without 2x 2-set.
Does anyone have any general tips on surviving against warlocks. I seem to always either get feared or banished while they target/kill my partner.
Line of Sight better maybe? keybinding a
/cancelform
macro is helpful. To see the Banish casts quickly use a focus cast bar and put it right in the middle of the screen, or use an addon like Spell Allerter.
