I'm not sure if there was a thread already about this, but here goes.
Am I the only one who thinks goblins and worgen death knights just don't make any sense, in terms of lore?
In terms of a game mechanic, theres obvious reason for them making the two new races DKs, because all other races can be them. But in terms of lore, it makes very little sense.
The goblins, as in the ones we get to play, have been living on there island all this time, and were never present in the events leading up to WOTLK, in the plaguelands. The same with the Worgen, they've been hiding behind there walled city all these years, and only now with the walls crushed do they appear.
However, neither of these two races were ever present until the cataclysm forced them into joining there new factions, and the events of the cataclysm is happening a long time after the events of the attack on lights hope chapel and the creation of the death knights there.
From any other races point of view, you can simple pretend your death knight was created before the cataclysm, but these two races don't fit into this role.
And with icecrown leading up and us defeating the lich king (don't get %^&*y about if we do or don't, its hardly the point), its not like he'd just go back to ebon hold and say 'Ah ha, goblins and worgen, I'll make some new death knights!" when he's already meant to be defeated.

Actually the Worgen death knights are easy to explain, after all, these aren't the interdimensional ones, these are the "cursed", and we've seen some death knights still have blood in them, so who isn't to say a Human Death Knight traveled into Gilineas after the wall came down and was bitten and the "Curse" passed onto them.
As for the Goblins, who's to say that a Scrouge ship didn't pass by the islands at some point, or a goblin ship was attacked by the Scourge. It's harder to believe then the Worgens, but it could have happened.

Nah I disagree. The steamwheedle are literally everywhere, why not into the plaguelands? These aren't Steamwheedle cartel though, their the Bligewater, not trying to shoot the idea down just saying, if the Goblin Death Knight's are suppose to be of this new Horde group, it would be Bligewater member's, and apparently till the Trade Prince decided to sell the entire group into Slavery, they never left the island.... so I guess that kills my idea of the goblin ship's being attacked on the water, but still might give the other idea; Scourge attacking their island and taking bodies still works.

It would all make sense if the Cataclysm happened in the start of the World of Warcraft as we know it. As in, when we were all level 1, seeing as it - to new players - happened before the Dark Portal, before the demise of Illidan, before the heroes defeat the Lich King ... and so on.
While it might be a bit strange, the new quests will probably also be coping with fighting against the rough new landscape and such, we're not turning our back on the threat, as the Lich King seems a bit more threatening to get done first.
Remember; we're actually fighting the various elemental lords at
their own sanctum
. Had it been imminent danger, we would've fought them at Azeroth. Deathwing might've come back by the time we were level 1, but might only make it really obvious to us when we dare enter his newly opened realm, after the Lich Kings demise.

Goblin and Worgen Death Knights were added for "coolness" and have no lore to support them. This question was answered at Blizzcon during the Preview Panel.Doesn't mean we still can't have fun doing "What if's?" for this.

I think they mean that they did not add any specific lore for them, not that they have no lore. There's certainly many open doors lorewise for them.

Goblin DKs will be.... strange, and Worgen DK's will look badass.
Hey, maybe now that Goblins CAN be DK's they'll set up a place in The Ebon Hold that L85ETC can play
"Nightfall"
ALL IN FAVOR!

Yea. I think that the discussion is more on the lines of "is it possible that it can make sense for the sake of roleplaying?"
Since when have Blizzard cared about the RPers?
